Can Caffeine Be Smoked Information in Questions
What are the benefits of giving up smoking & caffeine? This month I gave up smoking and caffeine. I started smoking when I was 13 (now 21) about a pack a day. I was raised on soda & thats the only thing in our house to drink. I never drank water..only diet soda. Now I ONLY drink water. I want to be as healthy as possible. Can anyone tell me what benefits I will be noticing for giving up these 2 things? Thank you!

me replied: "you'll lose weight have more energy not get sick as often and on and on it's great that your doing this good for you !!!"

Brown Eyed Girl replied: "better skintone for one!"

rockgirl007 replied: "well its good if u stoped"

If unused coffee grounds are smoked, does it produce a caffeine "buzz"? Or would the flame destroy all the caffeine?

M&T replied: "I say no......but try snorting it and get back with us and let us know if that does."

james f replied: "Why not just mainline it?"

Keith T replied: "Why on Earth would anyone want to smoke coffee? Oh, I know, you're a member of one of those New Wave/New Age cults who think that doing everything ass-about-face will usher in a new era of spirituality! You don't smoke Mary-J, you give yourself an enema with a solution thereof and everyone gets bombed when you pass wind. How quaint!"

steadfast replied: "I hate spiders."

biire2u replied: "That's an excellent question, so I investigated a little- Caffeine vaporizes at 178 C and it sublimes at that temperature. That means it goes straight from the solid to the gas at 178 C. It also does not decompose at that temp. Also coffee is burnable because it is carbohydrate product and has carbons and hydrogens and surface area to combust ( you might have to give a better grind to find the right burn rate). The temperature of burning far exceeds 178 C , so it should vaporize the caffeine ahead of the burn, just like a cigarette vaporizes nicotine ahead of the burn. But to answer your question --it looks like you could smoke and get that buzz"

midnightmoon replied: "I would rather just take a caffiene pill. You can get them at the gas station and you dont have to smoke anything."

Melissa B replied: "I must say, some people take this shit waaaaay too seriously. It's a silly question, no need to be hostile about it. Jeez."

How to quit caffeine and smoking when you get pregnant, SAFELY??? I would like to know what are safe ways to quit smoking and caffeine drinking once you know you are pregnant. Are any of the gums or lozenges safe? Can you slowly wean yourself off caffeine? I don't want to hurt the baby, but I don't want to put my body through the stress of going from 1.5 packs of cigs a day and 6-9 mountain dews down to none, I think that will stress the baby out too.

Vada83 replied: "cut down as much as possible, you can limit your caffiene intake and not completly get rid of it. Talk to your doctor about it and see what they suggest"

30 weeks with baby #1(Noah) replied: "You can actually have caffeine during pregnancy, in MODERATION. Having one can of Mountain Dew a day isn't going to hurt you. As far as smoking goes I would talk about this with your doctor. They know your body and will have some good ideas how you can slowly cut back without causing you so much stress. It's good to see you're thinking about your baby, you can tell you will already be a good mommy. Best of luck to you."

adever23 replied: "um...I won't take any pills or anything or less you atlk to your doctor first but as far as quiting I wouldn't do it cold turkey cause it will cause stress I would wean off of then....but talk to your doctor"

Michelle M replied: "300mg of caffine per day is thought to be safe. Thats about 2-3 cups. As for smoking, wean yourself off as best you can. I think you have the right idea about not shocking your body, but quit asap."

baby on board Feb 19 08 replied: "i used to be a heavy smoker, but as soon as i found out i was pregnant i stopped! Just the thought of hurting my baby was enough for me to stop. Yea it was hard at first, but i got through it. I would suck on lollipops every time i got the urge."

mom2be#3 replied: "Sorry I don't know, but I would like to know also.. I have a real bad caffiene addiction. My husband tried to get me use to drinking tea.worked for a little while then I started craving pepsi again.Wish I could get off it too.."

Live Laugh Love replied: "well um if you want the baby to live i think that would be enough initiative to STOP!!! just think, my baby needs to LIVE!! ha ha im serious if you want a healthy happy baby...take it upon yourself to save a LIFE and just quit./"

18 more days til due date! replied: "For the caffeine I completely quit alltogether as for the smoking I cut back A LOT but didn't quit all together the OB said it was probably best for baby since I was so far along. They would rather me not stress since it would get the baby stressed. I'm not telling you not to quit but just cut back slowly until you don't need any at all. Good luck it's a hard habit to break."

jef2086 replied: "Nicorette gum for the nicotine, and try slowly reducing your caffeine intake day by day. Maybe every 2 days reduce the mountain dews you drink by 2-3/as many as possible, it's gonna take self-discipline and willpower"

Betty replied: "If you're a devoted coffee or cola fan, caffeine withdrawal isn't easy. To minimise symptoms, which include headaches, fatigue, and lethargy, ease off gradually. Cut back by half a cup of the beverage each day. You can also try switching from freshly brewed to instant coffee. If coffee fills an emotional need, such as your private coffee break, or it's an early morning ritual or the perfect end to a meal, you could switch to a cup of decaffeinated coffee or tea. If you're hankering for an ice-cold cola, reach for the caffeine-free version at least some of the time or, better yet, try a glass of mineral water with a dash of lime cordial. You are allowed up to 300mg caffeine in a day (recommended limit)... Mountain Dew has 55mg. Check out these other drinks: As far as smoking goes, that one is tough! I luckily only had the urge to smoke while drinking - and well, I definitely gave up drinking the moment I found out I was pregnant! The thought of smoking made me sick...it's cool now because I am 33 weeks and haven't smoked in 30 weeks! Each time I would be tempted to light one up, or actually light one up, I'd take at most a drag and think about what it was doing to my baby... it would make me sick and I'd throw it out, now I have no urges!"

mommy2b24 replied: "Talk to you doctor, there are safe and effective ways to quit smoking while pregnant, but it'll probably be a prescription. Just commit to it and stick with it. As far as the caffeine goes, as others have said you just have to cut back, I, too, drank a lot of caffeine before, but now that I know I don't drink much. I have found that Diet Rite sodas help me out a lot...they come in different flavors and they are all caffeine free and made with Splenda. Best of luck to you!"

Jamie K replied: "they did a documentary on the news that caffine is in fact the leading cause of misscarage. I quit smoking the day I found out with both of my pregnancies.. I substituted with tootsie rolls and hard candy. the caffiene is REALLY hard for me to give up. I try and try to aquire with the taste of water. but thats the choice your going to have to make for the saftey of your baby"

niki k replied: "i drank sodas it ok to have caffeine but you need to drink lots of water and juice though and as far as smoking you should quit before you decide to get pregnant because if you stop while your pregnant you could cause stress on the baby which will cause problems if your smoking while your pregnant cut back as much as you can you need to goal yourself for less than a pack a day and drink about 3 cans of soda a day hope i could help good luck"

Does anyone know how much caffeine and smoking actually affect fertility? My Boyfriend and I have been trying for about 1 year give or take and I was wondering could out problem be because we both smoke and I drink alot of caffeine. just wondering if this a factor before i actually go to the doctor. and please be nice it's just a question

Nickerbocker_55 replied: "Well you should both stop smoking. From what Ive read it does affect his sperm and sperm count as well as drinking. Caffeine from what I heard is a factor once you are pregnant and shouldnt drink it until your 13-14 week and even then it shoiuld be limited. But I dont know about caffeine when TTC."

♥Due April 16th with #2♥ replied: "im a usual heavy coffee drinker and both me and my guy smoke too. we have concieved twice now. im not sure how much it could effect it. i dont think smoking lowers sperm count or anything, and caffeine you would thing would speed them up lol. maybe google it and see what you can find. if not i guess you will have to ask your doctor! best wishes"

ILuVmYhUsbaNd419 replied: "I have heard that smoking sometimes mixed in with other genetic factors can really affect fertility. Just some kind advice, I would quit or at least try to quit smoking before you get pregnant because in growing fetus the very last thing that develops is the lungs and I have seen babies who's mom smoked on ventilators because they can't breath on their own. I think that quitting nething is a difficult task and if you were trying to quit while you were pregnant you may find it a lot harder because your hormone levels are going to go crazy so I would try to quit before you concieve. There are many different groups out there for quitting smoking that you could contact. Best of luckkk to youuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!"

caribbeankiki replied: "There are several factors involved like 1.)Frequency of use : an occasional coffee is different from 3-5 cups a day as is 1 cigarette to a whole pack. I would start by cutting back on both slowly and then try to cut the caffeine out as it is noted to cause miscarriages 2.) The affects smoking and Caffeine have on fertility depends on your age before 30 you can to assume you will not be as drastically affected. After that well...only God knows 3.)some say look at the crack head alcoholic she got pregnant. What is the will of the universe will come to be so believe and meditate on what is truly driving your desire for a child and make space in your life for that to happen..this may require some serious changes.Conception is a divine miracle so on some levels I think you should relax and enjoy the divinity in the process. Namaste"

PlNk pEaRlS replied: "I'm not really sure what affects it has on fertility per say. But I do know that smoking is incredibly dangerous for a developing baby. I'm sure you've heard from commercials or even friends that it can be very hard to quit smoking. Why not try to stop now before you get pregnant? If you (or your boyfriend) smoke during your pregnancy, your baby will have blood pressure problems, breathing problems, and probably be born underweight and sickly. And you shouldn't force an infant to breathe in poisons. It's not like he'll be able to hop out of his crib and crack open a window for some fresh air. Smoking isn't good for anyone, so why do it? As for caffeine, it's actually good (in small amounts) in early pregnancy. It helps curb morning sickness (What to Expect When You're Expecting, chap. 2). Good luck :)"

realityshowjunkie replied: "My doctor says caffeine in moderation is fine. He told me no more that 2 cups per day. My mom and aunts must have had pots of coffee a day and none of them had problems. The is one study that says caffeine is linked to miscarriage, but my doctor said that study is flawed. As for smoking, there are tiny hairs in your fallopian tubes called cilia that carry the egg to the uterus. When you smoke, the cilia dies and the egg cannot get to your uterus. No egg in the uterus means no baby. Also, your risk for an tubal pregnancy increase."

viddy well replied: "Smoking does affect the way both of your bodies work and I'm sure it's not helping your chances... As for caffeine, I have to be honest with you... my fiance drinks coffee like it's life and we got pregnant on the first try... call me a dork for saying this, but I think that caffeine gave his sperm the charge they needed to get the job done... Now whether or not my child will be born running around like its on speed, who knows, but smoking should definitely be something you two should stop... I quit cold turkey and even though I miss it, I think that also helped our chances by me stopping a month in advance. Good Luck Sweetie!! Baby Dust*~_~*"

At What point should I stop having Caffeine, Alcohol, etc? I dont know what amounts can hurt a potential baby or chances of conceiving, so for the most part I dont drink alcohol at all while I am fertile and during that 2 week wait (which gets frustrating when I get that BFN). Ive also been cutting back on caffiene. I dont drink or smoke, so caffeine is my "addiction: and I am finding it hard to stop altogether, especially with work and my last semester at school. Should I stop having caffeine while TTC? If not, when should I stop? Should I stop altogether or just cut back? What about other things like dying my hair and second hand smoke and all that stuff pregnant women worry about? (Im in the middle of the 2ww again and getting paranoid;) ) My husband smokes, but he doesnt do it in the house. Im working on convincing him not to smoke at home at all..ya know, try and wean him off it without being too much of a nag;) And he isnt allowed to drink while Im fertile lol!

I ♥ old VW's replied: "If you are actively TTC, you should do everything you would or wouldn't do while pregnant. And don't forget your vitamins!"

babysisterchrissy replied: "you don't need to stop, just cut back. 2 cups a day, no more than 300 mg of caffene. You can dye your hair anytime you want, its just an old wives tale. Avoid second hand smoke even if you were NOT ttc."

Takarra H replied: "I stopped drinking a month before i tried my friend was drunk when she got pregnant. Your boyfriend should stop drinking too take folic acid and they say that caffiene really doens't do anything and milk could be much worst."

Does smoking coffee beans give you a caffeine rush? Is it possible? So, my friend's dad informed us that he uses a coffee grinder to grind up his weed.. which sparked up the idea - i wonder if smoking coffee beans would give you a caffeine rush? I'd like an answer from someone who can actually understand the possible physiological effects that it could have on the body. Many thanks!

Solo replied: "Smoke from coffee beans would definitely get me a rush to the nearest door out to some fresh air."

sassy sarah replied: "roflol!!!"

What effect does regular exercise, smoking and caffeine have on pulse rate? could you help me with this thanks

Ro' replied: "exercise LOWERS pulse rate cigs make the heart beat faster caffeine make the heart beat faster but then the half life of nicotine (cigs) and caffeine is very short, so the heartbeat doesn't get high for very long"

Violet Pearl replied: "All three will raise your heart rate. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, causing increased heart rate and alertness. Within one minute of starting to smoke, the heart rate begins to rise: it may increase by as much as 30 percent during the first 10 minutes of smoking. Exercise raises it as well, but generally that's considered healthy- for the most part."

tomes12 replied: "Regular exercise decreases 'normal' pulse rate at rest. Normal means in a steady, rested and calm position/situation. Low pulse rate (anywhere in the region between 40 to 50 bpm -beat per minute) is actually an indication of an 'athletes' heart. Strong, steady, healthy, fat free heart which has a bigger than average blood volume, so pumps more blood in less strokes, in one word -heart anyone would want. Average healthy person should have anywhere between 60 to 70, which is again very good. Smoking makes the lungs capacity very very low, which means that the body's capability of using oxygen is very decreased, which in turn makes the heart work more to provide the necessary 'oxydised' blood (anything more than 75 or 80 bpm is not a very good sign) So, smoking increases normal pulse rate, which is as you might guess -bad. Caffeine has similar effects in terms of increasing heart rate, but doesn't have as much negative effect as smoking. So, regular exercise decreases normal pulse rate at rest -GOOD. Smoking and caffeine increase it -BAD. It's also worth mentioning that when analyzing heart rate one should also consider blood pressure, but that's another subject."

char v replied: "All three raise it, exercise over time helps to lower it in the end."

oki doki replied: "all these three can transiently elevate your pulse rate ; your pulse rate is the product of your heart beat and the blood volume it pumps out, so regular exercise is the only positive thing among the three that has been clinically studied and age-old defined best way for staying healthy !"

Effects of nicotine and caffeine prior to Stress test? I'd like to know exactly WHAT effect these have when used just prior to a stress test. I KNOW that it is standard practice, but I have yet to find out the medical/scientific answer as to what these two things actually DO to the results of a stress test. In other words, I'd like more of an answer of why not to smoke or have caffeine than "Just because" or "because it's standard procedure" or "it negatively affects the results". Thanks!

Amber replied: "It will raise the heart rate and blood pressure which will alter the test results. If you smoke or drink caffiene and it causes them to rise then you are already close to the target they are wanting you to reach during the stress test, you would have to do less work. It could show something is really wrong with the heart or it could give a false reading that nothing is wrong with the heart when there really is. Hope this help."

Has anyone ever given up smoking, drinking and caffeine at the same time? I'm sick of being a slave to these substances...I'm also considering packing in sugar and salt. I know it's going to hurt and will be hell, but my friend did it and felt fantastic after. Anyone else done anything as drastic as this? And did you feel better?

Muschi replied: "I hope you can do it. As for me: I would start killing people..."

Kyle replied: "yeh i sacraificed my diet to quit smoking cigarettes. i ate jst about whatever i could for a whole month and got a little fat but hey i quit smokng. i just did a bunch of exercise for a couple months after and now im back to normal. ive quit smoking for almost 6 months now. you have to quit drinking alcohol when you quit smoking because it makes you not care about quitting seriously. also i would cut back on coffee bc that may make you want to smoke also but i think taking away coffee too would be too much to quit at once, you may feel overwhelmed and too stressed. its ganna suck but you can do it. i feel like 10 times better now that i dont smoke anymore. i smoked a pack a day for 5 years and total for 7 so i tell you it can be done and you can do it. your nothing but a slave to them your right."

som replied: "i gave up drugs recently and everything else followed, seemed natural to me to get myself as healthy as possible while i was 'on a roll'. the main problem I've encountered is not having as many options for socializing, as all my mates just drink etc. if you do other things with your friends this wont be a problem. Try not to expect to feel rough as i believe this can help create the unwanted feeling. Distract yourself with other activities if cravings occur, and yes you will definitely feel better without those poisons in your body, i do. Good luck. x"

annie6 replied: "yes tried all of these and dieting at the same time, personally i did not feel like getting up in the morning it was very hard good luck though it might work for you all the best."
