Has anyone got pregnant on their first iui/clomid cycle? I have been ttc for almost 3 years and just had my first iui (my 6th and last clomid cycle). Just wondering if iui has worked for anyone or if I should start saving for IVF? I have pcos, ovulated on clomid every cycle, take 2000 mg metformin, not over weight, husbands sperm is great. Had hsg, ovarian drilling. Nothing seems to be working.

skadoctor1 replied: "I have to ask... are you ovulating? Are you going to an endocrynologist? Have you had a blood work up to see why you arent conceiving? If not, I recommend you do. If so, clomid generally works for people with in 3 months. The fact that you have not ovulated in 6, really drops your chances of getting pregnant (ovulating) while on clomid. Its possible, but unlikely. I took clomid for 3 mos. Used a DOP monitor for the first time in month 3 and got pregnant. I ovulated every month with the clomid (had the blood work to show I did) but didnt begin tracking when to have sex until month 3. Personally, if it were me, Id try the injectible versions of ovulation stimulants first. The cost of IVF is roughly $14K per try. While the ovulation stimulants that are injectible increase your risk for multiples, you cant get pregnant unless you ovulate so if you cant ovulate on clomid having an IUI or an IVF treatment is pointless. Has your hubby had his sperm count tested? If not, I recommend that. Could be low sperm count causing your delimmas. There are cremes that can be provided to increase sperm counts. If you have had all of this testing, then do what you feel comfortable doing. If you are ovulating but just not conceiving and you 'want a baby now' I would save for the IVF and not waste the money on the IUI. The IUI, while it costs less and does work (some times even at the first go at it) only gets the sperm moving in to the tubes so it doesnt have as far to go to get to the egg. IVF will make a baby and then implant it in to you. Some times they dont stick, but if you get the right dr. they have over 50% success rates. Before having IVF ask your dr. what their live birth success percentage is. Its great hearing they have 56% success rate, but if only 13% result in babies being taken home from hospitals, its not that great (know what I mean). REACH is located in the South (North Carolina area). They have a great program and have a 56% live birth rate for IVF treatments. Dependant on what you insurance will pay would depend on whether I would do IUI or not. I know a lady who had 3 IUI's and still nothing. She is planning on IVF next. It just depends how much waiting you want to do and how much money you have to use for 'trial' basis. Another thought, have you had a HSG to check for blocked tubes? I would check in to that too before going in to an IUI. Good luck!"

How many IUI+Clomid before you typically conceive? This is my 2nd iui, 1st time using clomid. My RE told me it usually takes up to 3 iui+clomid cycles before you become pregnant, is that accurate?

jennika51287 replied: "its true but dont you find it wierd that almost every women that gets it done it never works the first time! maybe there using infertile sperm to get more money. usually the second or 3rd after that they recomend an ivf"

Jessie P replied: "I know of women that were successful on the first go, and I know women that had 5-6 and never succeeded. It just depends on your body."

mom2be replied: "It really depends on what the situation is... They say usually the 2nd or 3rd... I did 3 IUI and it didn't work... I did IVF and it worked the first time! Good Luck!"

If Clomid and IUI fails any other treatments available for roughly the same price as IUI and Clomid? If 100 mg of Clomid and IUI fails for me, and my b/f any other suggestions for us? IVF is a little expensive and we want to save it as our last resort. Thanks!

Baby Hannah due 9/23 replied: "Well don't give up hope yet! My husband and I did 7 rounds of Climod and IUI's before becoming pregnant. But to answer your question, our next step was going to have to be IVF treatments... Good Luck!"

Is IUI and Clomid worth it to try or should we go straight to IVF for PCOS? I am 23 years old with PCOS and just finished my second cycle of IUI and clomid. I'm scared b/c I don't think it's going to work this time. Should we have gotten straight to IVF?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ replied: "NO of course you shouldn't have gone straight to IVF. IVF is not a guarantee of pregnancy as many people think. It's expensive, painful and very stressful. Are you on Metformin? You should be. It greatly reduces miscarriage rate in PCOS women and also stimulates ovulation in many women. Have you had a HSG done to check your tubes are not blocked? If your tubes are blocked clomid will not help because the egg is not travelling along your tubes where the sperm meet it."

How long did it take you to get pregnant using clomid or IUI? My husband and I are trying to have a baby. We have some medical issues that our doctor is recommending us to try clomid and try a procedure called IUI. I would like some success stories to let me know if this works?

♥ IUI BaBy Girl Due 14th May ♥ replied: "My Husband and I tried for over 6 years. Our first IUI last August worked and I'm finally going to have my baby next month. I personally think IUI is a fantastic treatment. My Husband has bad sperm issues and I have PCOS. I tried Clomid alone (not with IUI) but it never worked, well, I ovulated but never fell pregnant... I used injectables and IUI and it worked first go. The procedure itself is simple, painless and is over before you know it. Well worth trying! Good luck x"

Has anyone done an IUI with clomid and injectables as a combination? I'm thinking of doing a clomid/injectables combination next, which would be my 2nd IUI. My first IUI was with clomid and produced only 2 mature follicles. For any of you who have done the combination, what dose and which injectables did you go on? What were the costs of the injectable meds, as compared to doing a full injectables only cycle? how many follicles did you get? Any info would be great!!THanks!

IVF MD replied: "Hi, Chloe If you have time to read this entire story, it might give you the insight you seek regarding Clomid vs ( Clomid + injectables ) vs straight injectables. Good luck! "

Does anyone have experience and success taking Clomid with IUI? My husband and I are trying to conceive. No known fertility issues, but have not had success to date. I am wondering whether it is worthwhile to pursue Clomid and IUI together. When would I have to take Clomid and what is the timing on the IUI? Are there any side effects?

HONEYB1 replied: "How long have you been ttc? It takes most couples a year to conceive because you only have about 20-25% chance of conceiving each cycle. Ask your doctor to verify if you are ovulating on your own or not. If you are not then Clomid is a good option and you may not need the IUI. I just finished my third round of Clomid. I took 50 mg days 5-9 of my cycle for the first 2 months. First cycle I didn't ovulate and last cycle I ovulated day 19 but didn't conceive. I took 100 mg days 5-9 this time and I am currently on day 12 waiting for ovulation. Clomid is usually taken days 3-7 or days 5-9. So once a day for 5 days. The pills come in 50 mg so if you are prescribed 100 or 150mg per day you obviously would take more than one pill. When taking Clomid you are expected to ovulate 5-14 days after the last pill. I ovulated 10 days after my last pill last month. I chart my temps and use ovulation prediction kits. These are 2 things you might want to try. Read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It is a great book recommended to me by my doctor. I take Clomid because I don't ovulate each cycle and I have a luteal phase(days past ovulation until your next period) that is less than less than 10 days (12 days or more is ideal). Read the book and discuss your options with your doctor. There is so much that can be done to help couples conceive now. Don't give up hope. Best of luck ttc!!! One more thing, check with your insurance company to see what fertility treatments they cover. Our's doesn't cover any part of treatment, testing, or medications. So we are paying strickly out of pocket for everything from the testing that we both did to the monthly doctor visits and now the medication. Clomid is around $3-$5 a pill so it isn't that bad. Call around to your local pharmacies and price it before getting your prescription filled because I found that some are cheaper than others."

How long after an IUI and Clomid process should I see implantation bleeding? I just got my IUI done on Wednesday the June 10th, My CD 1 was on May 23. When should I see implantation bleeding?

BeauTifully DeZined replied: "not everyone gets implantation bleeding. normally you get it about 7-10 days after conception...but getting it is not very common"

reba replied: "I've read between 6 and 12 days, but like the other person said, it is not common. It is possible to be pregnant and not have implantation spotting."

Anyone currently in their 2ww taking clomid and having iui's anyone have success? Been trying to conceive for almost 2 years. Working with a specialist to conceive curious if anyone has had luck with clomid and iui

Proud Mommy To Be replied: "We tried for 4 years before seeing a specialist and it took us 3 cycles of clomid with an IUI to finally conceive! It usually takes about 3 tries! Good Luck!"

Janine R replied: "I had no luck with clomid iui but I got preggo 3 times with injectable meds and iui. clomid is just evil with its side effects just skip it and go to the injectable meds. GOOD LUCK!!!"

What is the Success Rate of 100mg Clomid and IUI? This is my second cycle of IUI. The doctor uped my dosage to 100 mg of Clomid

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ replied: "100mg of clomid is the dosage at which MOST women get pregnant! So your chances are looking great All the best!!!!"

Ghena Hammond replied: "I took Clomid 100 three time with timed IUI and never got pregnant (although I ovulated everytime) then took Clomid 100 plus FSH injections to increase the number of eggs ,hence, increase the chances of pregnancy. I had 6 mature follicules that month the doctor did not recommend IUI because of the possibility of multiple pregnancies however my DH and I took the risk and did timed IUI yet I didnt get pregnant. and I really dont know why but I wish you good luck!"

HONEYB1 replied: "Clomid give a person about a 20-30% chance of getting pregnant each cycle (about the same as a healthy couple). Most people don't realize but IUI only gives a person about a 5-10% increase chance of pregnancy. That is why it can take more than one cycle to get pregnant. Best wishes!"

baby #1 on the way!!! =D replied: "usually 50mg is pretty effective, so 100mg would definitely make you ovulate.. just gotten time it right! good luck!! i got pregnant first round of clomid =] and prior to that was ttc for 5 months. so it works!"
