About Lamotrigine Side Affects in Answers
does anyone take lamotrigine(lamictal) and experience these side affects? i have been taking lamotrigine for a couple of years now as a mood stabaliser (i dont have epilepsy or bipolar) and when i forget to take them at the regular time or at all my arms shake like crazy and it feels like my muscles are spasming and i feel really strange and light headed. ....does anyone experience the same side affects when forgetting to take them?

nvemt55054 replied: "It is extremely important to take Lamictal at the same time every day. If you don't it can cause the side effects to be worse. My fiance' is on it and I can tell you he gets the same side effects if he is late at all on taking it. Here is a list of them: What are the possible side effects of lamotrigine? emt This medication may cause severe or life-threatening skin rash, especially in children and in people who are allergic to other seizure medications. Serious skin rash may also be more likely to occur if you are taking lamotrigine together with valproic acid (Depakene) or divalproex (Depakote). Seek emergency medical attention if you have a fever, sore throat, swollen glands, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash. If you have to stop taking lamotrigine because of a serious skin rash, you may not be able to take it again in the future. emt Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; fever; swollen glands; painful sores in or around your eyes or mouth; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. emt Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: * the first sign of any skin rash; * fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; * chest pain; * pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding; * fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or * nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Less serious side effects may include: * dizziness or drowsiness; * blurred vision; * nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach; * headache; * lack of coordination; * weight loss; * anxiety, sleep problems (insomnia), unusual dreams; or * runny or stuffy nose. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect."

dose Lamotrigine drug affect side effect or it is good to take as anti-depressed medicine? Iam using Lamotrigine and Duloxetine HCL tablets for depression,is this drug can really cure my depression and my mood developement?pls advice me in details. which medicine can cure my depression fast? Does this medicine can cure depression so fast without any side effect?

v_dubman2005 replied: "Anti depressants give you a bit of a break whilst your depression passes. This can take a very long time. To maximise the benefits of this rest period you should try to get to the bottom of the cause of your depression and try lots of relaxation methods. Anxiety is normally caused by worrying about the future, and the future only exists in your head. Try to spend more time concentrating on what you are doing now and the mind will be to busy to waste time thinking up different futures, all ore none of which may or may not happen."

If you quit taking Xanax how long does it take to get out of your system? What are the side affects? My husband qit taking his meds Thursday they are Alprazolom Bupropion and Lamotrigine what are the affects and how long does it take to get these ot of his system

hefnershoney1226 replied: "it depends on each individual but it took me 3 weeks and i felt like i was going to die!! it felt like a huge withdrawl"

butterfliesRfree replied: "I was on xanax for panic disorder (for 5 years) -- I had to detox from them with help.....it's one of the hardest medications to get off of.......but they work. VERY ADDICTIVE (but if my panic attacks came back, I'd go through it again)"

raysmithson1 replied: "if i gave you my address wold you send the remainder of his script to me?"

Scott M replied: "How long has he been on Xanax? Does his doctor know he stopped? Depending on the strength, I don't think he will have any side affects from stopping."

twistedcape2000 replied: "You can have seroius medical complications if the use was heavy enough. ASK A DOCTOR ABSOLUTELY HE MAY NEED TO WEEN/DETOX FROM IT"

Sissy replied: "Xanax is a time-released medication that takes about a week to work at it's complete potential. You shouldn't stop taking it without strict direction from your physician as it can have a lot of different side effects depending on the patient and the particular reason it was prescribed in the first place. Check out the side effects and withdrawal symptoms on the link I attached."

a_beautiful_wreck replied: "well, the question you asked gets a bit more difficult once you consider the real issue. Your husband has stopped taking medication for bipolar. Without meds, he is far more likely to experience either a manic, or a depressive episode. This will only be compounded by the fact that he "stopped" all at once, instead of weaning himself slowly off one at a time. I couldn't find any specific information as to how long they stay in your system. I have weaned off bupropion, and found a recurrance of depression and anxiety to be difficult for as long as a month. Lamotrigine was one I stopped cold turkey. It was horrid when I was on it, and I found it horrid to come off of. I was unstable, irritable, depressed and found functioning in everyday activities really difficult for a couple of months. I think it would be wise if you two were to come up with a back up plan, one to use if he is in an emergency situation. You both have a hard road ahead, and it gets worse before it gets better. I wish you both the best."
