Lasix surgery? Have you ever had lasix surgery? Can you tell me how it works, if its painful, and how your vision has changed. Also, approx cost of surgery.

Layla--crazy for you replied: "i've heard about laser surgerys. it has very few risks which are rare but one of the risks are that you have a bit of bad vision still and you'll see some things like smudge but it'll come back to normal after sometimes. it doesn't hurt a lot just a little it's normal."

yellowsubfreak replied: "Well I'm 22 and had all laser interlase lasik eye surgery about a month ago and love it. My vision is now 20/20 (I was classified as legally blind before the procedure). The first 24 hours were definitely uncomfortable (I slept most of it though). I was told by my surgeon that due to my age there is a 30% chance that I will need what they call an enhancement procedure in 10 years. However my surgery came with 100% lifetime guarantee so if I do need an enhancement I won't need to pay again which is nice since the procedure did cost me about $4000 (some other forms of lasik are slightly different prices). Go to a free consolation and find out if you are a candidate (I actually went to a few places). I ended up going to Lasik Plus (http://www.lasikplus.com/), they have tons of locations. During the consolation you bascially go through a very in depth eye exam to check various things (one of the big ones is testing the thickness of your cornea (if they're not that thick it will limit which types of lasik surgery you may be able to get, if any). Generally they won't do surgery if your vision has not been stabilized for at least 1-2 years. Just remember there are risks but the recent FDA complainants are not new (or really a lot when you consider how many people have had it done), the press just focuses on them every once in a while. The key is to make sure you find a surgeon that you feel comfortable in that is willing to answer any questions you may have."

Has Lasix surgery worked for you or anyone else you know? I'm considering it in the future but wonder if vision gets worse anyway even though I heard it works and many people are glad they got it done.

noodlesjen replied: "I had this done just over a year ago and I strongly recommend it. It cost me about £3000 at ultralase but the results are fantastic! Got to warn you its alot more uncomfortable than they tell you during the procedure but worth every second of discomfort."

fontainegraphix replied: "I have 3 friends that have had it done and they loved it. It's been awhile since they've had it done too, and they're still in the positive from it. The only thing negative that I've heard is that in some cases your vision may get bad again after a long time. I've not known anyone that has had it done that's experienced this so maybe it's just said as a precaution. Good luck if you do decide to get it done. I've heard it's much easier now than it used to be too. :)"

I have minor stigmitism, but still need my glasses at work, driving, sports, etc So Should I get lasix surgery? any suggestions??? i'm hesitant b/c we're talking about permanent change in eye structure...thanks!

Hallenbeck3 replied: "Talk to your doctor because you might not be able to get Lasik. If you are able, GET IT. It is by far the best thing I have ever done. it cost me 1400USD for both eyes. If I had to pay that every year to keep my eyes how they are I would pay it every year. I used to have 20/750. The big E on the chart is 20/500. I now have 20/10."

ROCKETDOC637 replied: "no you should not. i`m only eight.i`m really smart."

B replied: "Its astigmatism and that shouldnt make you want to or not. They can fix that with the surgery too but it will ad a little to the cost but if your vision is bad enough and dont want to wear glasses then it may be worth your while. In my time as an optometric assistant everyone who i knew had lasik had only one regret......that they waited so long to do it."

Alfred replied: "Yes, do make do with it as once the ey shape is changed u cannot re-do it. Minor shd be a problem. Do consider gettign contacts if u think that spect are troublesome."

I wear reading glasses. Approximately how much does LASIX surgery cost,,start to finish.? Start to finish, I mean first appointment,,surgery and follow-up. I live in Colorado,,if that makes a difference!

alwayscurious replied: "You can't tell anyone this. It depends on what your eyes are and how bad. Look up lasix on computer and you can find lots of ingo."

rhonda_gayle2002 replied: "I had this done when it first come out and love it. It cost me 5000.00 and now I hear that it is 700.00 or 800.00 an eye."

Brisbane Roo replied: "Its expensive, but another question I want to ask is are you aware that many people experience "halo's" at night if they look at lights? make sure you do a lot of research before you get this done."

Other eye surgery besides lasix? I have astigmatism and have been wearing glasses since I was 5. The ophthamologists say that lasix surgery won't fix my eyes but there may be an alternative surgery where an actual lens may be placed in my eye. Is this true?

princeidoc replied: "a lens placed inside your eye...they are probably referring to "implantable contact lenses" (ugh, i hate that name) or the name that i like better: "phakic iol": edit: david s (poster below) is talking about "ortho-k"...ortho-k is a NON-surgical method for vision correction: its usually about half of the cost of lasik"

david s replied: "I've heard on the news of a custom made hard lens being placed on the eyeball, that reshapes the eye overnight, but without any laser cuttings, but I think it was more expensive then lasix, but if I had my choice, I would rather have a hard lens reshape my eyeballs than having a laser make cuts on my eyeballs."

John replied: "Lasik is good and it helps a lot . No pain no glasses or contacts and it improves vision. The cost is around $3500 but there are many options also. You can pay monthly $48 and. But consult with a good opthalmologist before you go for one. To know more you can visit"

Lasix eye correction surgery.... would you do it if you are a visual artist? I need correction for distance and reading, and I need stereoscopic vision for doing art/ drawing and painting etc. I am afraid that I would be unhappy with the results, since I hear they usually give you one eye for reading and another for distance. Does anyone out there have any experience to share?

snowflake1234 replied: "One eye for reading and one eye for distance sounds totally crazy and uncomfortable for any human being. Check your sourses."

redunicorn replied: "Everyone I have heard of says it is the best thing they ever did."

Jessi H replied: "I had lasik done, and it was absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself. I have never heard of them doing each eye differently--that would at the least probably give you migraines. Make sure you go to a reputable doctor, though. Don't just look for the cheapest one. The doctor will do a thorough examination to make sure you're a good candidate for it. They won't just do it on anyone who asks."

mlaheji replied: "Heres a website that has a lot of information about it, i was just looking at it. Its a Lasik center in Malaysia"

whisper replied: "I am also a visual artist, and have problems with my vision both distance and now with the age thing, up close. I would not allow any surgery to be done to my eyes that might have a chance to go wrong. My eyes are important to what I do, and am totally apprehensive with anyone touching or tampering with them. If you are gung ho, then I would do my research with the various doctors out there offering the procedure and ask to talk to previous patients if possible"

wenlovesgod replied: "My mom had it done with different correction in each eye. Her insurance paid for it because she had catatracts. She had it done a couple of months ago and has not complained. However I would suggest that you go to a recommened doctor."

Cost of Lasix Surgery? Have heard lots of different prices to have Lasix eye surgery. What the straight story on this. I have seen from $250-$2000 an eye.

rlow01 replied: "The ranges you quoted are right. The main difference is the level of service you get and where the procedure is performed. For $250, you are generally going to a "clinic" that only performs LASIK procedures. You may or may not have a doctor perfrom the procedure and most likely they are not equipped to handle any serious complications that might come up. For more money, you are likely going to get a doctor. At the very least, you are probably going to be in a medical setting that has procedures in place to handle a wider range of complications. In general, the more money you spend, you are more likely to get a high level of care. Going low budget should not be an option when dealing with your vision. Do your research as to the people performing the procedure and what previous patients have to say about them. I had this done a few years ago at the UCLA eye center and I haven't had any issues with my vision at all. You can see more questions and answers about this and more at experts123.com (http://www.experts123.com). Good luck."
