Do you have a Paxil success story? I am starting Paxil next week and I would really like to hear any success stories any of you have had with Paxil. I have pretty severe anxiety/panic and starting to have some depression symptoms. I have been dealing with the severe anxiety for several years and it has really taken a toll on my life. I am ready to make a change and my doc seems to think Paxil is right for me. I have tried Zoloft but could not deal with the side effects. Please do not send me ANYTHING negative. I have put off taking medications because of reading all the negative things about them. I don't want to hear about how hard it is to get off of or that there are other options besides medication- I have tried them all!!! Again, happy stories only please! :) Or if you have any other meds that have worked for anxiety. I have tried Xanax and Lorazepam from my doc. I didn't like the "drugged up" feeling from them. THANK YOU!!! :)

onleeu61 replied: "I have been on Paxil for about 6 years. There is a generic for it now, much cheaper and works the same. It took about 3 weeks before I really got the benefits. I have always said that it let me distinguish the mountains from the molehills. I always felt I was in a crisis situation before. I asked my doctor when I would have to go off it and she said, why would you want to. I don't feel druged at all, just a much happier person. There has been only one side effect for me that I won't tell you about, unless you ask. Good luck"

Paxil SUCCESS stories? Hello. I would like to know if people would share their success stories while using the pill Paxil for anxiety disorders. I have generalized anxiety disoder and I am on Paxil. Please, nothing negative here. Only happy stories of success. Thank you

Wise Guy! replied: "I really don't know that you will get that many "happy" stories from this medication. I was put on Paxil because of deteriorating conditions due to having a total thyroidectomy and menopause hitting at the same time. While the drug itself made me feel great and did something to trigger my sexual desires again I gained 20 pounds while on it. My "ex"-physician explained to me that Paxil triggers something in your brain that makes you store all your food intake, which causes the weight ain. Plus, there have been SOOOOOO many medical facts revealed about the dangers of this particular drug. I went off Paxil, lost my sexual desire again and went on Effexor XR. I am now in the process of weaning myself off of the Effexor. There are safer drugs on the market for you rather than resort to one that has had such a bad rap sheet trail behind it. Your physician should be more educated to these rap sheets before prescribing it to you. Sorry, might not have been what you wanted to hear, but we do not always hear what we want to hear do we?"

numb nuts replied: "checking neurotransmitter levels would be a better success story. most doctors sell drugs like candy and you need to know which neurotransmitters you need more of otherwise its hit and miss finding the right drug."

Paxil Help! Success stories please! :)? I am asking this again to see if I can get anymore answers... Kellie replied: "A DR put me on Paxil after my second child was born and it was a miracle drug. I had about 2 weeks of a "doped" feeling...then peace. It was fantastic."

Does anyone have any positives stories to share about Paxil? I have been on Paxil for a couple of months with great success. I have read so many terrible things about it, I would love to hear some positive success stories. Thanks!

Tapestry6 replied: "My daughter has been taking it for 2 years she has no panic attacks now and is living life to the fullest, good job, independent living. I don't like her taking drugs but its working for her. That is a success story."

Nikki replied: "My mom was on Paxil for a year and she had no problems. It helped her during her time of depression. Everyone is different on how they will react to a medication. It's all trial and error. Glad to hear it's working well for you. Best of luck."

Moving to 5htp from paxil with Doctors oversight, this is really important to me, need thoughts...? In December of this year, I am going to slowly wean off of paxil, and move to 5htp. I went on paxil for mainly anxiety, which it completely took care of, and I've read tons of success stories on 5htp. My question is, what are peoples experiences and thoughts with 5htp or moving to it from an antidepressant?

Mad Mac replied: "My "off the top of the head" thought on 5-hydroxy tryptophan (5htp) as a replacement for paroxetine (paxil) for depression is that it is no better. It is a "health food over the counter" supplement and has not been shown in scientific studies to improve depressive conditions. You can bet if there were any advantage in the use of 5htp over paxil the pharmaceutical industry would have seized on it and made it a prescription medication so they could profit from it. Paroxetine is an SSRI (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor) and has had much success but some detrimental lawsuits filed because of alleged bad effects from it. These lawsuits may be just opportunistic. The fact that you say it (paxil) completely controlled your anxiety problems makes me wonder why you want to change. Go to "5htp" and "paxil" in Yahoo! web searches to find out more details on these chemicals. Wikipedia has good summaries. Good luck with your anxiety/depression, good mental health, peace and love!"

I've just been put on Paxil for panic attacks does anyone have any positive stories about this drug? All i can find is negative reports on paxil there must be some success stories!

Einsteininium replied: "Yes there are some success stories. It will probably decrease your panic attacks, but it could leave you feeling emotionless while you are taking it. That is not a fun feeling let me tell ya, anything except panic attacks and severe depression is better than emotionlessness."

amanda c replied: "I used it for a while, and although it didn't help the anxiety as much as later stuff like Zoloft and Chlorazapam, it definately is one of the few that didn't make you nearly as sleepy. It did relieve the chest tightness or pains well. good luck."

TORCH replied: "I personally take Alprazolam (generic Xanax) for not only Panic attacks, but also for anxiety. It works very well. Paxil, from what I believe is an antidepressant more rather than a panic disorder medication. I have not tried Paxil, but would like to see what it does in my situation."

Lucy V. replied: "I had an 18 yr. old friend who took it and i think it helped her; but i think she only took it several mo's; don't know why she quit taking it. I take Zyprexa. Have been on Zoloft before and 30 other types of NERVE MED'S; best wishes! It affects different persons--differently. and sometimes it takes several wks. perhaps even several months. - do discuss it with ur doc if ANY BAD SIDE EFFECTS. AND READ AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ABOUT Paxil on Internet and / or in Medical books. I ALWAYS USED TO GO TO LIBRARY AND LOOK MED UP IN PDR (Physican's Desk Reference) and If there are TERMS/WORDS that i did not know MEANING OF--I TRY TO FIND THE ANSWERS; HAVE FOUND LOTS ON INTERNET. / i THINK U CAN JUST TYPE IN : Paxil on search and get to helpful sites to HELP U --if you haven't already."

kanajlo replied: "I know a friend who improved while taking Paxil, although he complained of being a little sleepy in warm weather. Be aware of possible side effects but realize that the side effects are uncommon."

jezebel_lilly replied: "I took Paxil for Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder when i was 16.It didn't work for me.I prefer Xanax.I don't take it every day, only during an attack.Prozac helps control the P.D.,A.D. and depression.Meditation also helps.I do yoga at least 3 days a week to relieve stress.I would talk to your doctor about other options."

prettypixie1997 replied: "Paxil can make you gain a lot of weight, everyone I know that used it gained at least 20 pounds!! Xanax is the best."

thetaalways replied: "No I do not. And whoever prescribed this drug violated your basic human rights by not informing you properly about the negative effects so that you were able to make an informed choice whether to take it or not. You should not be getting these negative reports from other people. The FDA already has all this data and these drugs have "Black Box" warnings that your DR/psychiatrist are well aware of and are supposed to inform you about. Please consider the following: Psychiatry is a psuedo science, that cures nothing and has become a multi billion dollar industry, largely funded by government appropriation from tax payers dollars and the multi billion dollar psyciatric drug industry (anti-depressants are a huge part of this)that It has created and supports this through selling chemical lobotomies to the general public, and our children. Hooking our children and teenagers onto addictive drugs, not to mention adults. In 1994, psychiatrist Norman Sartorious, then president of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) declared at a meeting of European psychiatrists, "The time when psychiatrists considered that they could cure the mentally ill is gone. In the future the mentally ill have to learn to live with their illness." These "illnesses" are created by labeling them through a Psychiatric Diagnostic Manual which get thicker every year with new "lables".There is no scientific basis for their diagnostic methods. (Mathmatics Disorder, Herbal Remedies Disorder etc...) In the past they could get away with actual lobotomies, electric shock, drug induced long term "sleep" therapy, institutionalization etc. Today they use these lables to justify "treatment". These lables cure nothing. The drugs prescribed cure nothing and create drug addicts and cause suicidal and homicidal tendancies in people.(just a few of the many side effects) Check out these web sites for more facts about psychiatry. Or or or E mail:"

Moving from paxil to 5htp with doctors supervision, need thoughts and opinions...? In December of this year, I am going to slowly wean off of paxil, and move to 5htp. My question is, what are peoples experiences and thoughts with 5htp or moving to it from an antidepressant?

oldtimekid replied: "Congratulations!! It's always good to hear when people try to get off drugs. The best thing that I hear from customers about 5HTP than any anxiety drugs is that 5HTP doesn't have much of any side effects, while most drugs have a huge list of side effects. I'm very happy for you that you found a doctor that believes enough in natural products that they are going to help you get off Paxil and start 5HTP. Congrats again!"

Kaliko replied: "I believe in 5 htp 100%. Take small doses during the day. You can take a large dose at night and it will give you awesome night's sleep."

aisha_73 replied: "I've never taken 5htp, but have heard that l'tryptphan works much better. Phosphatidyl serine and theanine and magnesium."

Tell me your experiences with Paxil/ Paroxetine? I know the effects will be different for everybody, it's been prescribed for me for Panic Disorder/ anxiety. Success stories would be more favorable, but let me know what you think? What were the Side effects for you?

Ray ! replied: "FANTASTIC DRUG.... BUT TRY COMING OFF... BE WARNED....ITS HELL REGARDS RAY."

Ashes replied: "I agree with the first poster. I was really sick for a week while coming off paxil. It worked really well for me for about 7 months, then it seemed to just stop working and it made me more agressive. I would try it, when it worked for me it was great."

sammy replied: "personally it saved my life.i was scared to take it because of the media but i bit the bullet and live to tell the tale.i had really bad anxiety and depression and it worked great.i will say if i miss a dose you can tell.but about an hr after you take it the brain zaps go.if you miss adose you feel fuzzy and sickly but its tolerable.i miscarried the first time i was on it and the doc changed me to prozac when i became pregnant the second time and i didnt get any withdrawal at all.i would say if people struggle coming off it switch to prozac because you dont get side effects and prozac is easy to come off."
