2005-07 Pontiac GTO?? is the new 2005 and newer GTO ok in winter driving conditions?? Also do you know of a site that has reviews for this vehicle?? I am thinking about buying one so please tell me what you think about this vehicle. thank you in advance

mema replied: "My husband and his brother both have a 06. His brother has made modifications on his because he wasn't happy with it. My husband has made a few too. If my husband had it to do over he said he would have never bought it. They both had something called " rear wheel hop " and it drove them both nuts. Its very bad for winter driving. It had no no outdoor thermometer and compass. Its a 400 hundred horse power engine in a car made for 100 horsepower. Don't buy one."

hsv_215i replied: "If your after reviews on the GTO you cn also search on "Holden Monaro" as that is what the car is called in Australia where its built. try these I have driven a few Monaros and think they are awesome, but thats my opinion, im not a motoing journalist. The wet weather driving is good, they have Traction Control but no Electronic Stability Control Cheers"

Dave S replied: "Any rear wheel drive vehicle is not the best choice for winter driving. Add a high HP engine and it gets worse A friend of mine has an 07 GTO. He loves the car but won't drive it in snow and ice. Too squirrelly. I have an 06 Mustang and it's the same way. 2 or 3 snowflakes and I park it."

Nigel M replied: "Based on your question - the answer is not for you. There are many people who drive high powered RWD cars in the snow - I drove a 1970 AMX which alot light lighter than a newer GTO with similar torque year round in Minnesota with no issues, back when we had real winters. But from you asking the question, this is not a vehicle for you in the winter. If you want a Pontiac, get a G6."

Answer Man replied: "Its possible, just get some very good winter tires... but I wouldn't.... unless its for fun (like winter snow/ice drifting) AM"

Chad D replied: "Just get a good set of snow tires and you'll be fine."

atvman_400 replied: "They are great cars, but as soon as a snow flake falls they are useless. Performance tires plus rear wheel drive and 400hp don't make for a good winter ride."

mbtransam replied: "You might look at the Trailblazer SS as an alternative. Same 395 hp LS2 motor with optional all wheel drive. GTO is only about a 1/2 second faster in the quarter mile. If your set on a rear drive two door, its as good as anything in its price range but wont be ideal in the snow."

Fun Skater replied: "Any car can be good or horrible in winter. It depends on the driver's skill and the tires more than the car. Front wheel drive cars take a lot less skill and screw ups tend to leave you going in a straight line. Rear wheel drive requires more skill and if you screw up you have a good chance of swaping ends. However, the instability on accelleration also allows you to use the throttle to steer but it takes a careful touch on the throttle. High performance tires (more common on rear wheel drive cars) are useless in the snow or very cold (under 20 deg F) weather. Even a cheap snow tire is better than most "all season" tires in winter use for any car. That lets you go with summer tires that really work in the summer instead of an all season compromise that isn't great in any season. Good snow tires like the Nokian Hakkapeliitta are amazing in the snow on any car. I prefer a manual tranny with the RWD. It gives a more direct feel between the throttle and the torque on the tires. Limited slip is also a big help."

InjunRAIV replied: "I agree almost 100% with funskater. My own GTO is parked for the winter, but not because of some perceived lack of snow traction. I would actually prefer a RWD car for the winter months as well. I parked the GTO because of salt, and I have a 4WD GMC Sierra that I should run sometime, don't ya think? But this seems to be a question similar to a restaurant that has no prices on the menu. If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. In other words, if you are asking the question, you are probably looking at the wrong car for you. This is a real performance car, and not one that should be in the hands of 95% of the general motoring public. There are plenty of lesser powered RWD cars out there (Mustang V6, for example) which will provide similar winter handling without the added burden of 400 HP - which makes a delicate touch on the gas pedal a 'must' in slippery conditions. All that said, this is a GREAT car. More power than ANY other car out there for the price, good looks, great seats, and because you rarely see any of these on the road you get a degree of exclusivity. As with any car, proper tires are a MUST. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 all seasons on it, which are a mud & snow tread. Here's where I start to disagree with funskater: Snow tires are best in deep virgin snow. All season tires are actually better on plowed, packed snow and dry roads, so the all seasons are better for 99% of you overall driving. check out for some expert advice on this matter... and BTW, there was no 2007 GTO - this car was produced from 2004 - 2006"

Thomas G replied: "if you can afford this car. park it for the winter.I keep my 06 solstice in the barn in winter, my 70 vette convertible needs company. The salt is why you don't want it out there, not performance.I used to drive my 86 mustang to the salt yards to get my 1967 U model mack and plow the roads. don't let any nimrod tell you you can't only that you shouldn't!"

Im planning on purchasing a Pontiac? 2005 Pontiac GTO, can anyone here tell me more about it? I want something that will laugh at my friend's Mustang GT I read a lot of reviews about the GTO and it looks promising, it's a little difficult to find one but I found many online in near towns.

Dylan B replied: "Well, they are a spacious car, personally i like the interior and dash. But they are also rather heavy cars, and don't get the greatest gas mileage, about 20ish, which is something I'd consider in this day in age, either way good luck though."

Marian replied: "well with the 2005 gto received an upgrade from 2004 a bigger engine , from a 5.7 liter (350 hp) to 6.0 liter (400 hp) , which can easily smoke ur friends mustang gt , to be more exact the gto is a modified chevy corvette , plus is comes with leather interior(standard) not like ur friends mustang , check out the website below for more info , i hope that helps u"

BOB replied: "Probably the best bang for your buck. Mine stock could easilysmoke a new mustang gt. Go on to find one for sale in your area."
