Problem With Prozac Facts in Q&A
I am planning to start taking Prozac 60 MG as a starter for PE [premature ejaculation problem]? I am planning to start taking Prozac 60 MG as a starter for PE [premature ejaculation problem]. I am shy to go to doctor. tell me is it OK?

Tin S replied: "Get some from your friends. Usually if you only take once a month, you will find out it works. That coupled with practicing not to come will help.. Don't tighten up your butt muscles. That will make you come faster. And every time you go to see you sex friend , masturbate till you come, that will relieve the pressure.Good luck! Also your sex partner can help you!"

austrnsw replied: "You only need a small amount that is too much try a smaller amount first only like 10 to 20 mg increase after two months or more if need It can take a while to work Please be warned: this is a powerful drug that last a long time in the body, and can have a considerable list of potential side-effects. Before going on Prozac should , talk it over carefully with your doctor.don,t be shy with the Doctor tell him you shy about a prsonal problem and want to talk to him about it"

slmom replied: "Hmmm. I would say go to the doc and get a legal prescription. Otherwise, your going to be in jail. That is a really dumb reason to go to jail. Your doctor has heard and seen just about everything, don't be shy."

Is there problem if i drink alcohol beberage during prozac treatment? Now days I am under prozac treatment. I am taking 1 capsule daily..

i have already casted my cat so replied: "whats beberage? whats prozac?"

No Name replied: "i would read the bottle and what it says i wouldnt exceed more than 1 drink"

Jon replied: "No, but there is while you're typing."

Syn replied: "What is a BEBERAGE? NO."

preetiepink replied: "Also, have your head examined. Doing alcohol or drugs when you are in an "on-call" testing programme is like totally self-destructive. BTDT! Of course you might have that sub-conscious desire to self-destruct, too. It sounds like you are an alcohol addict; find help buddy or you will hit the bottom again. I'm an alcoholic and mixed drug addict clean since 1995, by the way."

MS replied: "I believe the two are contraindicated--in other words, you don't take one with the other."

Krilik F replied: "dont do it or lizards will grow out of your butt...im not joking i tried it once"

hhaayyleeyy replied: "Ask your doctor or read the label?"

Jane replied: "It could cause drowsiness so take it easy on the alcohol."

Rave?now! replied: "yup"

Karen B replied: "Yes, if you read the label on Prozac, NO alcohol. Alcohol interferes with the Prozac. Plus you have heard not to mix drugs, you don't want to end up OD ing."

roy1695 replied: "The short answer is. Do not drink alcohol with Prozac."

serengeti_lion replied: "Well, Alcohol is a depressant. So, it may hamper the ability of the Prozac to do its job."

Lady_Breeze23 replied: "man, talk about a death wish...that's lethal. But have fun if you want to! Bananas"

Donna replied: "When you are on any anti-depressant, you should not mix it with alcohol. You could cause yourself to go into seizures, or worse- DIE. Alcohol is a depressant and in drinking it and combining it with Prozac, which is the anti-depressant, they are fighting against each other."

naguru replied: "I think you better take advice from a professional Doctor. Or read the instructions in the bottle thoroughly. If you are going to drive the car, then you have to be doubly cautious."

What recourse does a supervisor have for a problem employee who takes Prozac? Person becomes very upset with small situations when medication has not been taken. When they are on their Meds. The work is very good. When off Meds. Every little thing is a problem.

Lori B replied: "Is it the Prozac or is it the employee? There is not enough information here to give an answer. Sit them down and tell them about your observations, everyone want s to perform their job well, and it may encourage the person to take their medication more regularly."

dasupr replied: "The fact that they are on Prozac, if prescribed by a licensed MD, is irrelevant. You need to address the behavior that is unacceptable, based on job description and the policies and procedures outlined in your Human Resources handbook for substandard performance. The only recourse available is in the written policies of the organization."

hexeliebe replied: "L:ori is correct. There simply is not enough information to process. BASED ON ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: You proceed as you would with any other employee. You document and counsel until the situation becomes untenable. One aside, you CAN require the empoyee to be on the medication before working. You also need to consult your in-house counsel or a local employment law attorney. While being on medication is not in and of itself grounds NOT to allow termination, being required to take a medication and not doing so can place the employer in a very precarious position and gives the employer the right to alternatives for the protection of others."

donnie replied: "None for the Prozac. As for the problem, follow company protocal e.g. Issue warnings in writing and place in employee's record. Write evaluations and address any problems, don't mention medical problems unless you have a medical specialist involved. Follow your companie's rules State and Federal laws, If there's a union you may alert them to the evaluations and plans to terminate, this might take care of the problem by them reigning the person in or helping you can them. When you terminate offer a letter of recomendation but don't be too flattering, just list time of service, promtness and ability to perform job. Talk to a legal adviser, I'm not a lawyer, but I owned a business, there's always the fear of a lawsuit or revenge"

does anyone else have the same problem with prozac??? im on prozac but i find that it doesnt work it only makes things worse , does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

maeagle77xo replied: "one time...my dog was on prozac."

anna s replied: "well it is possible that it isnt the right medication for you you should tell your doctor"

Pamela D replied: "Prozac can cause issues for people that are bipolar. It is not recommended as a treatment for those with bipolar disorder. There are so many different medications out there, and often people are prescribed drugs for depressive disorder by their normal physicians. Make sure you report these side effects to your doctor immediately. Also, make sure to see a psychiatrist for proper diagnosis."

laurarara replied: "You need to see your doctor to change medication."

Neil M replied: "prozac doesn't work for everyone. So you might want to go back to your doctor and ask them to prescribe another drug in the same "SSRI" family to you - there are lots of them. But also remember that prozac only starts working after 2 weeks or so, and reaches its full effect only after 6-7 weeks."

Vanessa F replied: "I am taking Prozac, and it works great. You really should try all of your options before dedicating yourself to one. Be sure, however, to give the medication atleast a month to get into your system. Only take Prozac for depression, and not any other disorders such as Bipolar disorder. There are many other anti-depressants out there, so don't give up"

smc76 replied: "Talk to your doctor. He can change your medication. Sometimes they have to try different ones until they find the right one."

prozac problem!? I am a single mother and have been suffering with post-natal depression since my daughter was bron 4 months ago. At first, the doctor prescribed citalopram, which I tried once, but felt so spaced out, I didn't take it again, the doctor then changed me onto prozac, and I took my first one this morning. I was told it can stop you being able to sleep, which is why i took it in the morning, but it's had the opposite effect. I feel so tired, I can hardly keep my eyes open. I'm on my own with baby, which is why this worries me so much. It also leaves me feeling spaced out, like the citalopram. For anyone who's taken prozac.....did you have any side-effects? And did they subside after a few days? The leaflet says to continue taking them for at least a week, as early side-effects normally wear off. I'm just wondering how long I will feel like this. p.s- i am feeling high, so if this doesn't make much sense.i apologise!

SHEILA H replied: "My son is on Prozac and takes 20mg each morning. He has no trouble sleeping. His mood is good and stable and he has had no real side effects. Could be you are just really tired cos life is hard especially with a baby. I know as I have been a single mum for 15 years. Chin up! Get lots of rest and take care of yourself as well as your baby. Good luck .Keep taking it for a while as your mood sounds good."

Jade replied: "I've been on and off Prozac (Fluxetine) for roughly 5 yrs. I know exactly how I feel when I'm on it and when I'm off it. It basically makes me feel calmer and slows me down, calms my temper and makes me feel slightly more withdrawn and emotional other than angry. I don't really notice any side effects other than it makes me feel sleepy, so I take it at night. I also empty the capsule into water and drink it, as I find the capsules wedge themselves in my throat. Don't know if you've experienced the same. But everyone's different and it will effect everyone in different ways. I can't imagine what you must be going thru, but I wish you the best of luck tho, and no doubt there are other mothers (single and not single) going through the exect same thing. There are many different types of anti-depressants, so it's best to try a few out until you find one that suits you. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon."

starlite3597 replied: "prozak is bad please please please stop takeing it your doctor is silly putting u on that"

HOLLYWOOD54 replied: "PROZAC AH! I REMEMBER IT WELL AND IN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IT DID THE SAME THING TO ME IT INTERFERED WITH MY SLEEP PATTERN UNTIL IT GOT INTO MY SYSTEM AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO AND YOUR BODY AND IND ADJUST TO SOMETHING NEW,BUT ONE THING U HAVE TO REMEMBER IT WORKS ON EVERYONE DIFFERENT AND IT ALSO DEPENDS ON HOW MANY MILLIGRAMS HE PRESCRIBED TO YOU SO THAT WAS THE SIDE EFFECT I HAD ALSO AND I DID NOT HAVE THAT I FEEL HIGH FEELING EITHER. WELL ONE THING IS FOR SURE U SHOULD NOT TAKE UR SELF OFF OF IT WITHOUT YOUR DOCTOR SLOWLY TAKING YOU OF IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THE MEDICATION YEAH! SPACED OUT I FELT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT IT WENT AWAY . IF U-R VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE YOU R-ALONE WITH UR BABY U SHOULD MAKE UR DOCTOR AWARE OF IT AND NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE IF YOU WANT PEACE OF MIND OK!"

mr bigs replied: "It would be wise to phone the duty (out of hours doctor) at your local surgery. They may advise you stop them,or continue,as the tiredness sometimes wears off,in some people. You cant be expected to look after a baby in that position.Tiredness is a common side effect of most antidepressants. It may be an idea to get some person to person therapy instead. But seek the doctors advice."

tinyfeet64 replied: "Anti-depressants can give you all sorts of side effects such as yours when you first start taking them and you wont actually feel the benefit of them till youve been taking them for around 2 to 3 months and thats when the immediate side effects will start to vanish in most cases. Is there anyone you could call on for help with the baby? Even if its just to give you a couple of hours rest a day,it will benefit both you and your baby. You are not useless as my sister used to think she was,you just need a little help to get you through this rough time. Everyone needs to recharge their batteries to be able to face the day ahead, more so when you have post natal depression. I hope you start to feel better soon,I have an idea how you are feeling because my sister went through really bad post natal depression, but it will pass,I promise :-)"

Have you had problems while taking Prozac? I have been taking Prozac for about a month and a half for depression. I was on 10 mg, they upped the dose this month to 20 mg. The first day I took it I had a lot of energy, after that first day it has messed up my sleeping and I am soooo sleepy but I just can't fall asleep. Have any of you had this problem? What did you do? I haven't tried zoloft, and what I am trying to help with is depression. I have always had depression, feeling hopeless, and suicidal... it comes and goes depending on whats happening around me... Sometimes I can see something or hear something and hits me hard... Sometimes it can be about my life, someone elses life, or the whole world, and I get depressed over it. I had a dad who was addicted to a lot of drugs, he shot heroin, smoked crack, he had Hepititus C from a dirty needle and when he died he had Hepititus A, B, and C, and was HIV +. He beat my mom, he made me and my bro watch him stab her with needle nosed pliers once. We were in foster homes when they divorced because my dad sold our house and moved to TX and we were homeless. My mom remarried, got custody and my step dad was AWFUL. I have had a hard time and I have always been depressed about something. I have a beautiful daughter who (annoying as she can be) brightens up my world. I had a miscarriage 4-3-07 and that is when that is when I hit my worst. I was 3 months along. The baby came out in my hands at the hospital and I was hysterical. They were very rude to me. I had never been thru that before, I was scared/worried and I didn't know what to expect. But they were still rude. They just threw my baby away like it never was anything. It hurts. Me and my boyfriend got into it bad and broke up (we are together now) and I just kinda lost it. He said something to set me off and I basically kicked his ass for it. After that I knew I just needed to get some help. I am trying to get over it, but its hard. But anyhow that is what I am taking the Prozac for. Depression.

pplz1st replied: "it can cause cancer. have you tried zoloft or going some days without the p?"

char replied: "It does that along with messing up your life... What are you trying to handle ?? whats the problem?"

peaches replied: "You are depressed and that is probably why you are sleeping more. I t can take several weeks for Prozac to really start to work. You should take it at the same time everyday. You should also be in counseling until you are all better. You also need to get a prescription for sleep, but not trazedone because it may cause nightmares. Try temazepam. Don't change anything without talking to your doctor first. be sure to tell him what has happened about the baby. you may need to xanax for post traumatic stress. Be sure to see a counselor as soon as possible. I am sorry that those ignorant people were rude to you; they should be ashamed of their behavior. I know that if that happened to me they would have to take me straight over to the mental hospital for an extended stay, probably after I went "OFF" on some rude idiots! I would need to be sedated and have therapy all day. The idea of coping with the loss of a child seems unbearable without professional help. Anyone that does not understand that must not have a heart."

nick.intp replied: "You should feel weird on Prozac for about 6 weeks or so. It's normal, your body is just adjusting to the meds. For the first two weeks you should have a lot of energy and feel very awake. Most likely you would only need to sleep for about 3 hours a day and stay awake for 21 hours. By the way, anti depressant will cause you to lose interest in sex. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depends on your view point. I used it to start a new life. I too came from a dysfunctional family (not nearly as bad as yours) but was lead to a life of gangs. My future was bleak and was not planning to live pass the age of 25. I did everything from selling drugs, pimping, robbing, shooting, etc.. I thought there was no way out for me and that I will one day die by the gun. However, anti-depressant helped me get back on track. It made me not to give a fcuk about others and help me focus on myself and only myself. Anti-depressant made me lose interest in women completely; this is a good thing, now I can focus my mental energy on going to school and getting a job. Life is pretty boring when you're on anti-depressant but the anti-depressant cause you not to care about such boredom; it helps you focus on your goal, whatever that may be. If I were you. Take Prozac for about a year or so, and within that year, change your life completely. Go back to school and get a degree, don't worry about guy trouble, you won't have any. Prozac will cause you to lose interest in the opposite sex. You will then have time for school, your daughter, and room to think about how to structure your life. I wish you well."

Wanna-Be-Mommy replied: "I took Prozac and I didn't notice it helping at all! Then they put me on Zoloft, which was awful. It made me feel like a zombie. I once said something completely rude in the middle of a class (I was in high school) and I didn't even know I said it! I thought someone else said it and then when I looked up, it was me everyone was staring at! So I don't recomend Zoloft. What ended up working well for me was Celexa. Also, no matter what kind of medication you are taking, you should be seeing a psychiatrist. Look for one that you really enjoy talking to. That's what I did. Good luck and hang in there... I know how you feel and it DOES get better."

jules19120 replied: "This is for Jennifer.... I just started taking it to only 10ml. But for the past year I haven't taken anything but before that I've been on everything and so here I am back to square one. Back on medication. Like you I had it bad growing up but never abuse from my parents they were great to me. They were both murdered when I was 12 & 16. My whole life changed since then and will never be the same. I feel sorry for you to have had a father for so many years who dodn't love anyone but himself. Thank god for your children as I do all the time. God bless you."

I will use Prozac for PE {premature problem}.? I will use Prozac for PE {premature problem}. My question is, 1) should i take it every time before sex or on daily bases. 2) How many hours ago should I take Prozac before sex? I do not want to go to doctor. Suggest me some FDA approved medicine... no Herbal Medicine Plz

Method_To_My_Madness replied: "Bad idea. Just don't."

Dean replied: "no- i think you have the WRONG drug there"

soccerdude07 replied: "dude you should not take that and dont ask people on here, what do they know? you have to ask doctor"

kimber911oo replied: "i agree with method. don't start. my old man tried it and it didn't make any difference. there are other ways to have sex than intercourse."

ponek99 replied: "best advice is go to a dr"

HEYYEAH! replied: "what?"

Mike G replied: "dont take anti-depressants for PE! They end up whiping out your testosterone production and you end up with ED (erectile dysfunction). In alot of cases, if you stop taking the drug, you dont recover your testosterone levels!"

Jose B replied: "Dude don't take any drug. Rather take sex boosting exercises like PC muscle work outs and Relaxation exercises which would strengthen your genital muscles and build sexual stamina in you. With these exercises, you can stop PE within a few days and can last longer between her legs as long as you want. ( it is real, I am not kidding)"

About to have a big problem with prozac... PLEASE HELP ME.? I've just started on prozac. Literally- I just took my first does this morning. Well now not but minutes later, I have my period. Which means I'm going to have cramps VERY soon. I get cramps extremely bad: to the point of near fainting if I don't treat them with naproxen which is an ibuprofen. Well apparently I read that you can't take ibuprofen while on prozac. Please tell me if this is true, and if it is, please tell me what I can do for my cramps. Severe cramps + the side effects of new anti-depressants... I'm not going to be in good shape today.

Having problem getting a job, after re-allocating, do i need prozac? I have pretty good CV, i even started 5 years ago as technical, and ended up Business Development Consultant, its my 2nd month unemployed and am getting bad offers, or sorry replies for the good ones, or low rates, i have no network of people am new to this place? i am loosing it feels like everything i built is wasted? Prozac ?

BonesofaTeacher replied: "Do not take prozac. Do yoga or aikido instead. You need a physical practice to get the endorphins going to get energy and feel better. Don't take a pill. It's bad news, makes you dependent and is expensive. Swim or get some physical practice. It works just as well is cheaper and better for you."

jeepwife4ever replied: "Maybe you're not suited to the choice of career you made. Try something else."

Amy! replied: "Drugs aren't the answer. How do you think you will feel after your prescription runs out?? Go out and meet people. Go to the bar or the park or club or whatever your thing may be. If you walk into a job interview with a smile, you will be more likely to get hired. Go for a run or something, it releases natural feel-good chemicals into your brain."

jennfarmer100904 replied: "Hang in there! My husband faced the same thing (has a degree in Mechanical Engineering). He either only got crappy offers, or none at all. The internet is a great way to research companies, but don't forget that traditional works well too--fax in your resume to a company you like. Now would be a great time to focus your skills so you don't feel like you're wasting them--take a class related to your field of business. It took my husband 3 months to find a great job."

Fairy Rie replied: "It's only 2 months and you're giving up? I didn't start giving up until after a year, then I got upset, my boyfriend comforted me and I tried again, still unemployed, but still looking in hope, if you don't find anything, perhaps you could try an apprenticeship or volunteer or something."

realifeadventure replied: "I am also unemployed, I can tell you - Prozac won't help you find a job!! Keep at it!"

Cerebral replied: "2 Months and you're thinking about Prozac already. Honey, please, it takes the "average" American at least 6 months. So you're alright. It's harder to find a job when you know what you want and what you're willing to accept. If you didn't you'd have gone to McDonald's or the Gap by now. It will come to you, in time, and when you finally get what you want it will seem worth the wait. It can be stressful, but keep your head up. I have a friend who had to look for three years, they eventually went back to school (extreme circumstance). But go to networking events, happy hours, hang out in the places all the yuppies do. You will be fine. If you can afford it take a class or teach a class to keep your skills up, get some certifications. A good way to test a company is through contract projects or volunteering for a short period of time. Good luck."

Anyone else on prozac have the same problem as me? Iv been on Prozac since about may, and Im really finding it difficult to get my self motivated in a morning, as a eg, i used to get up at 6am to get ready for work at 8....now im getting up at around 7 coz i just cant get out of bed....on my days off from work my daughter who is 3 normally comes an drags me out of bed coz she wants breakfast... Iv mentioned this to my gp an he said it is a side effect from prozac, and i will bring it up again next time i go to see him. But I was wondering if anyone else has this problem an how they deal with it.....I really am struggling.

Krysten replied: "i just started taking prozac like a few weeks ago and i havent noticed any side effects from it. i feel fine in the morning when i wake up."

hope replied: "I have recently started prozac again and I have this problem. It is a struggle to get out of bed even if I sleep in the day I find it hard to wake up. I have only been on them this time for a week so I am not sure whether it is the depression or the medication causing this. I can't remember what I experienced last time I was on it! I would however talk to the doctor if you feel this is a problem, most side effects should only ast for the first few weeks. You may want to talk about another medication? Hope this helped"

Rawr replied: "Not many drugs work for me as I have depression that runs in the family and my moms is not curable. I advise you try and get on different medication - talk to your doctor or whoever prescribed you those drugs."

phillip b replied: "what is paramount is to choose your healing route------ carefully-- be really aware that the conventional treatment for this can be horrendous and you can go on for years with no improvement and massive damaging detrimental side effects from meds . Do read this very carefully and try and understand the principles behind what is being said . Evaluate all of this info well –this info will save you years of suffering ---years if you apply it .. This will educate you on our health care system and its dire limitations All treatment recommended by the doctors should be tested and approved and quite rightly so. That makes sense right .it costs millions to test and approve treatments because of the possible damage to people.. Drug companies Fund most research and will only and I mean only look at treatments, which show the promise of good deal of a profit, --they will actively dismiss any therapy which does not have profit potential— thus your doctor will only recommend therapies with profit in them. Despite The fact that some of these other therapies mentioned do have overwhelming benefits some, which have saved needless amputations, needless pain and trauma, and much loss of life. Drugs are not the answer for depression with mind altering chemicals or any other mental illness. This is a fundamental principle and unless you grasp this fully –you could /will have years of suffering ahead of you . This does not help you though when you are ill and suffering—not hearing about therapies which can help from a person you look up to and trust Have you heard your local doctor recommend, Massage Spiritual healing, Herbs, Light therapy,Colour therapy, the violet ray therapy, Osteopathy, Electrical Frequency devices. These therapies will work for many complaints of a so called mental nature we have thousands of testimonials and results showing years of successful applications Do this and I will guarantee improvements to you inside a day its that simple, of course getting these things in place can be much harder. Each therapy can have a very beneficial influence on you. Print this all off save it and enact it and share it --- of course someone to help you get these therapies in your life is invaluable but do not be swayed by them trying for short cuts …. 1,get someone to massage your back and legs at least 3 times a week use peanut oil or a mix of 50-50 olive and peanut oil. 2 use the violet ray machine an Edgar Cayce device google search this --- 3 times a week on the other days especially on the spine….we use it every day with very positive results 3.get a tent sleep out side 3times a week utilising earth energy - nature can help big time especially with how you feel how much energy you have 4 study and apply good nutrition-- adequate minerals all of them particularly calcium and magnesium iron essential fatty acids omega 3 6 9 protein etc 5 ensure your thyroid is working well 7 ensure you do at least I hr per day some kind of voluntary work when you are able..the reasons you are ill , or poor or have allsorts of bad things happen to you is because of karma -----usually from past lives but some from this one –voluntary work will offset your mistakes--- how much it offsets well that is down to god and how much you do. Healing us is in direct proportion to the help we give others ie your healing comes with helping others achieve theirs so if people are doing very little in helping others ---they suffer more and longer...and if they are doing a lot they get well faster....so now you know what to do ,,and like a lot of us are already doing being of service. 8 be amongst people who are giving, friendly who have time for you who love you , choose your friends well 9 be or get to a place which personally love or like 10 get and do some work which you like or love 11 ensure you do no acts which hurt or inflict on anyone –don’t want to add to your karma do we !!! 12 spiritual healing yes and reiki -. 13think good positive thoughts, laughter, look at comedy, play good uplifting music, 14 avoid at all costs exposure to violence, murders, suffering ,death ,tragedies, -feed upon good things uplifting things, things that feel like a breath of fresh air.. 15 Positive affirmation- that’s right programme your self in the mirror , thoughts are things words are things actions are things , all have influence, few people realise these things can have an effect on themselves . 16 a detox ------ toxins can influence how you feel big time 17 hugs get plenty of them in your daily life you would be amazed at how people feel after a few decent hugs…. 18 loads of exercise running walking climbing but something which you enjoy 19 rid yourselves of all aspartame laden foods and drink and many additives get back to a wholesome organic diet diet A total cure however is tied up with karma so you can imagine just how important is the voluntary work."
