Does this sound like Anxiety? I'm seeing my Primary Dr. today.
Heart palpitations and feeling mentally racy and not able to finish, always in a hurrty
Chest pain
Headache when very stressed
High blood pressure-The systolic (upper number) runs between 120 and 160 and the diastolic (lower number) runs between 90 and 106
Nausea
Depression only due to the severe pain I've been in for over six years
Ever since stopping the morphine and valium my blood pressure has been high.
Medications...
Flexeril muscle relaxer
Zofran for nausea
Suboxone keeps patients from taking opiate pain meds
Inderal high blood pressure
Celebrex anti-inflammatory & also works for pain
Trazodone sleep
Protonix acid reflux
Cymbalta depression I got from the pain meds. I'm not feeling depressed.
Lyrica muscles and fibromyalgia which I don't have.
I took Inderal yesterday from my Primary Dr. but B.P. stayed high and went up a few hours later to 140/102. The Pain management Dr. I saw yesterday didn't give me any ideas of what I could have but I see my Primary Care Dr. today.
If it's anxiety what's the treatment?
I'm a mom of three kids who I drive to and from school everyday.
I know yahoo isn't a medical dr. but does anyone have any ideas?
I want to get off most meds but my Dr. won't give me valium for anxiety symptoms and she says it's not for spasms. When I mentinoed anxiety to the nurse she said Dr. won't give it to me. Since no valium, I've had high B.P. and anxiety symptoms. I won't go on pain meds cause of driving to and from private school. The meds I take now aren't addicting nor make me sleepy. If any of them do then I don't take them. Lyrica and Flexeril doesn't cause me drowsiness. No bus or friends close by enough from the school. We are farthest from private school. Hubby works 24 hr. shifts so I have no choice but to drive. If I go back on pain meds insurance won't cover them and I will be more absent from the meds making me sleepy.
EROS7776 replied: "I can relate to your problems. I have had degenerative disc disease for 15 years and have been on full disability for over five years. My list of meds, including phentynal patches and oxycodone are quite similar to yours. I think some of the symptoms you are experiencing are due to stress, and that alone will make your blood pressure high. There are many days that I can't stay awake due to the amount of medicine I take along with the lack of sleep I get consistently at night. You really need to get your blood pressure under control, which will help with your chest pain, heart problems and headaches. I hate to say this, but you really do no need to be driving at all, while taking lyrica and flexeril, expecially. I take lyrica twice a day and zanaflex up to 6 times a day. I do no drive when taking my meds and do not take these meds if I have to drive. You are risking the lives of your children and others on the road by driving under the influence of some of these meds. Also if you have an accident causing death or injury under the influence of these meds, you could also be prosecuted. Your children need their mom and you need to find other transportation for them to school. They could ride a bus or with a neighbor or friend.
I really wish I could help you more. Just make sure that your pain doctor and primary doctor are on the same page and both know about all of your medications so they can work together to get your problems under control. You might need to see a counselor so you can blow off some steam if nothing else. I tried it and sometimes it helped me.
hope this helps.."

What is the appropriate treatment for a DVT (blood clot) in lower left leg (calf)? A little more history: 49 year old female, diabetic, high bp, high cholesterol, hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, severe depression, PTSD, bipolar, major anxiety, sleep apnea, and liver disease due to extreme fatty liver. On 16 daily meds for psych and med, plus a 17th optional for nausea as needed, and 18th for stool softener. Her meds: Docqlace, Cytomel, Lexapro, Famotidine, Promethazine, Metoclopramide, Metformin, Trazodone, Hydroxyzine HCL, Cymbalta, Glimepiride, Levothyroxine Sod, Protonix, Lisinipril, Benztropine, Tricor, and Clozapine. Of those, 7 had warnings about anticoagulants, 4 of which were serious interactions, and 2 other meds have a rare side effect of causing clots (research on WebMD). This person went to ER twice in 10 hours (sent home both times, told not to worry, talke Ibuprofen)then to her personal doc not even 2 days later, he put her on home injection blood thinners. She died the next night, clot broke loose, split, and traveled to both lungs.
Chakooch replied: "she died from pulmonary embolism
its one of the complications of DVT ... as the clots may travel through the viens of the lower extrimities and get in to the lungs either as massive emolism or showering embolies ...
well ... the effect of the drug interaction in a patient with long term uncontroled Diabetis , Hypertenssio , hypothyroidism in addition to psychological stress and depreesion ... and i suppose immobilisation ... the risk becomes morbidly high ...
the appropriate treatment of DVT and preventing the pulmonary embolsm is by
blod thinners pills or injections
mobilisation is so very important
Good Control of pre-excisting diseases
avoiding drug interaction
but never can obtain a 0% of risk or 100% of prevention.
and for such cases it is done in a special care units
my kindest regards and deepest sympathy

DaBrat replied: "If I were you I would gather up all her medications, all her medical files and go see a lawyer. She was on way too many meds! Also people don't know the natural supplements that are out there with no side affects that can help with almost any problems. Doctors today are just to eager to prescribe medications. Also was she ever checked for factor 5? It is a rare blood clotting disorder and can only be found through a blood test specifically for factor 5. But still, if I were you, assuming you are a family member I would consult with a lawyer. Also, check out the site below to see what natural supplements can be taken in place of a lot of medications that are much better for you. They work because I have come off a lot of medications using them, even surprised my doctor and made a believer out of him."
In health care reform, why the expensive prices of medications is not addressed? I have Aetna health insurance. And for 6 months, they cover up to $750 worth of medications. The problem is that it is a very low coverage amount seeing how ridiculously high some medications are. For example Advair (for asthma) costs over $200. Protonix (for gastritis) costs $120, Wellbutrin XL ( for depression) costs $133 (and that is generic price -- $133).
Flomax costs over $100. In fact most of my medications have a 3 digit price, even if you go by generic, The coverage is finished in a month or 2 and then i have to pay out of pocket for 4 to 5 months, before getting coverage renewed.
What is the reason for such skyrocketing of medication prices? Only insurance companies are mentioned in health care reform, what about the pharmaceutical companies who charge ridiculously high prices for meds?
Fbo replied: "I don't know, but if 50 million more people are covered, all that will do is drive cost up and up ! When demand goes up so does the cost."
Tilden J. replied: "The price of medications are so high, because it takes thousands of dollars for drug trials, etc. before the drugs are ever even marketed. They have to make that money back some how. So they pass it on to the consumer. A generic drug cost less money to make, but as long as a drug is on patten, it can not be reproduced. Ask you doctor for samples. That will save you some money."
Can't eat?? I've recently experienced a large amount of stress in my life, more so than my body seems to be able to handle. I've seen a doctor before about Depression, but lacked ambition to continue treatment. It took me 6 years and some major problems to get me to see the doctor again. I was freaking out and my stomach hurt really bad, I was put on Lexapro and an anti-acid Protonix on 3/14. Two weeks later on 3/31 I was switched to Paxil and put on Ambien for sleep. The protonix was discontinued. I haven't been able to eat right for about a week now. I feel sick as soon as I take a bite, and my stomach hurts so bad afterwards. I've lost over 10lbs already. I want to eat so bad, but it hurts so much. Is this the medication? The doctor told me it would take 2 weeks to work fully. Do I wait another week?
Lynz replied: "Try soups and things that are liquid and easily digestible, your stomach is most likely really upset from all the stress and the new medications. Just nurse it back to health and give the medication the time that the doctor advised you to give it. Try eating crackers, etc.
Get some medical marijuana for your nausea if you're in a state that legalized it, over 18, and down with alternative medicine."
What can i do??? I have been going through this for the past 12 years...My doctor has given up pretty much..i have been sent to so many different doctors and no one has an answer...they just send me somewhere else. I have very bad anxiety and panic attacks. i have been diagnosed with depression, and falsly diagnosed as bi polar. I have been to therapists, psychiatrists, gastroenderologists, and regular doctors and they have all given up. My stomache is always upset, it stops me from wanting to go to work. I also have a VERY bad phobia of throwing up. If my stomache gets upset it sets off a panic attack. I have been given protonix for GERD, which didnt do anything, and i am also on lexapro temporarily until i can get in with ANOTHER psychiatrist april 12 which i had to make the appointment in JANURARY to get..some one help me please!! Im getting to the point where i just want to give up..not by killing myself or anything, just stop trying to find out whats going on. Im running out of money b/c of this.
well im a hairstylist right now...and i love it. And i have been to at least 3 different therapist that specialized in panic disorder and anxiety and depression, and the gastroenderologist said that i didnt have IBS, but i think ill get a second opion with the luck im having LoL...
mrs_hadfield replied: "You could have irritable bowel syndrome - they don't know exactly what causes it, but stress and depression can be huge factors. I get it bad (feels like your stomach is about to explode and you get really bad diarrohea) when I am stressed. Maybe you haven't found the right type of therapy, there are so many. There are drugs that can help control IBS a bit - stop the spasms of the Bowel. As for the panic attacks your doctor should give you some tecniques on how to control them. A phobia of throwing up is actually common and can be dealt with by therapy but as I have said before it is trial and error. I have been on 3 different therapy courses and still not got the right one yet. Is there a career counsellor you can go and see about this,so they can assist you with finding a job that will suit your situation more?"
PJ replied: "To get some sense of control in your life start exercising. It helps a lot with depression and gives you a sense of control. Walk 30-60 minutes every day. You should start feeling better in a week or two. Just better - not cured. Have you tried Prilosec for your GERD? It works really well for me. Exercise seems like a simple solution, but it really helps. It makes you stronger, helps you see how strong you are, and burns up excess energy that otherwise is used to panic. It also helps you sleep, and that makes every thing better. Walking is free. Good luck."
imagine. replied: "Maybe you just have nervous stomach? Because you work yourself up with all of the anxiety, then your tummy sets off and you panic because you're fear of vomitting.
Hope I helped. =]]"
Christine replied: "Take a deep breath, take one day at a time. Talk to friends-family whenever you feel the sensation coming on. Tell yourself it is going to be OK. Are you on Xanax or any kind of panic/anxiety medication? Ask you doctor about that. Exercising is a must. Even if its a daily walk. Make a list of things to ask the next doctor you see. (so you dint forget anything) Your stomach is probably upset because of the anxiety, and you probably have trouble sleeping and staying asleep as well, which can through you into a panic attack also, get on a regular sleeping pattern. Hope this helps, e-mail me if you need more answers."
falling away from me replied: "i can help you with coping skills if youd like. in the mean time just hang in there i will preay for you and pull for ya as well"
Please Help! Aching, Heavy, Pitting Edema legs - causes? Ok, I've finally given up in my search for answers. I'm hoping someone out there can give me some ideas of what could be wrong. I have had pitting edema in my legs for about 3 months now. I've been to the doctor numerous times and have ruled out my kidneys and heart...which is good....but, it's driving me crazy as to what this could be.
Here's some history: I have a whole host of existing medical conditions, which are probably not related...but, I'll list them just in case. I have:Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Osteoarthritis, Depression / Bipolar, GERD, Barrett’s Disease, Hiatal Hernia, IBS, Urinary Incontinence, Seborrheic Keratoses. These are confirmed diagnosis. I take the following medications: Lamictal, Paxil, Elavil, Diclofenac, Flexeril, Lortab, Omeprazole, Protonix, Detrol, Ultram, and Oxycodone (when needed). I am a 40 year old female that is 50 pounds overweight.
Like I said, the heart and kidneys have been ruled out. I've been careful about reading labels to ensure my sodium intake is around 1500-2000 mg per day. That has not made a difference. I've stopped taking the Dyclofenac for a couple of weeks since that has been known to cause edema. That didn't make a difference either. I also stopped taking my Detrol for a couple of weeks as I was allergic to Ditropan and thought maybe I've suddenly developed an allergy to the Detrol as well. This also has not made a difference. I was on Lasix for a few days, but it didn't make any difference in the edema.
I had testing about 1 1/2 years ago that showed I had an enlarged liver and cyrosis (non-alcoholic). At that time a Liver function test was done and it came back normal. I asked my doctor if that test had been run again with the other testing since the onset of the edema. She said since it was done before, it doesn't need to be done again.
She's an awesome doctor! I've been seeing her for years and she has been wonderful with all of my medical conditions. So, I trust her. However, when I asked last week what else we can do or what other testing can be done, she said that sometimes these things just happen, especially to women over 35 and that the heart was her main concern with this. She recommended that I get some compression stockings. So, I have ordered some, but they haven't come in yet.
My real concern is that perhaps we're missing something that could be very important. I don't think it's natural that someone should have to wear compression stockings for the rest of their lives. And I'm in an extreme amount of pain with this. I have a career which requires me to be on my feet for a couple of hours at a time. I try to sit when possible, but even when I'm not on my feet much (like on a day off), the edema is still there. My legs feel so heavy and constantly ache. The pitting is so severe at times that an indentation has taken a couple of hours to return to normal. This happens mostly on the days that I work.
I'd really like some input with ideas of what I could be missing. I've been doing research for 3 months now and am very frustrated. Any input/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, I know I need to lose the 50 pounds...that goes without saying. I had never been overweight until 5 years ago when I was diagnosed with all these medical conditions and started on all the medications. So, if there are any other comments not related to my weight, they would be greatly appreciated.
Mum Mum replied: "Loose 50 bls ! and do what the doctor says !"
gillianprowe replied: "Right here I go. You know about the blood system, veins and arteries that contain blood and that is pumped around your body by your heart. Well we also have a Lymphatic System, like the blood system, except it is missing a heart, or pump. Instead the Lymphatic Fluid relies on the blood system. So the lymphatic drainage is undertaken by wrapping itself around the veins, arteries and as the blood moves along, the lymphatic fluid moves along. Problem being we have Gravity that likes to pull everything to the centre of the earth, so making it harder to drain lymphatic fluid from the lower extremities, legs, ankles, feet, back up the legs to drain, hence Edema! So the answer is in exercise. If you increase your cardiovascular rate, then it will allow the lymphatic fluid trapped in the legs, ankles to drain faster. Failing that you will end up in very tight stockings or bandages and having the fluid drained via massage, which I do not recommend. So even if you have to go to the local swimming pool and join in classes of aqua jogging, you do not need to be able to swim to do this, you will soon see that the legs are reducing in size. However, if you maintain your present life style, well the legs will just get bigger. Sorry to be so blunt, but I have the same problem with my Mother, who sits in her chair all day watching the TV and then complains about her swollen legs and how they hurt, but refuses to go walking. Best of Luck"
Cats replied: "Um okay, first of all, I'm confused. The liver tests came back and indicated that your liver is enlarged and cirrhotic?? If that is the case, and the doctor doesn't believe she needs to repeat the test and follow-up you definitely need to see another doctor! Liver could definitely be the cause of these problems!! You should have your ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase, albumin, bilirubin, anti-mitochondrial antibodies, anti-smooth muscle antibodies all measured. Go to a doctor and ask for all of these tests. That will rule out something to do with the liver. Again if you were diagnosed with cirrhosis, this needs to be follow up. If not, you still need to look into the liver as that can certainly cause your symptoms."
What's wrong with me? I have recently stopped taking morphine for pain and ever since then my blood pressure has been high and when I woke up yesterday morning I had chest pains and if I got stressed out I felt worse. It felt like my heart was racing and pounding at times. I'm on the following meds.. Cymbalta, Suboxone, Lyrica, Flexeril, Zofran, Celebrex, Zanaflex, Trazodone, and Protonix. When I was on pain meds and valium my blood pressure was normal. Since I went off the pain meds and valium in December my B.P. has not ever been normal. After waking up yesterday I took and Inderal that my Dr. gave me last year still in date to see if it would help my blood pressure. A few hours later though my B.P. went up to 140/102. I asked the Dr. I saw yesterday about valium and another muscle relaxer Soma she mentioned but she refused to give me either one. I'm seeing my primary Dr. this morning and I'd like to know what if anything he may do or give me will help. I feel like I'm always in a hurry and if I don't get to places on time I will be late and there will be consequences. Life at home is very stressful and I am always thinking about "what if?" Visualy it looks like I'm content and everything is o.k. but inside I feel like I'm racing against time.
Since the B.P. med Inderal didn't do any good earlier is there a possibility that something else would work?
I took clonodine a year ago but it just bottomed me down very low about 80/60 and I just about passed out so I don't think I'd want to try that again. While on the pain meds and valium I didn't get the feeling of always being in a hurry.
My symptoms are as follows..
Heart palpitations
Headache when very stressed
High blood pressure-The systolic (upper number) runs between 120 and 160 and the diastolic (lower number) runs between 90 and 106
Feeling like I am always in a hurry
Nausea that I take zofran for
Depression only due to the severe pain I've been in for over six years and only took the Cymbalta while on pain meds and valium cause they were a central nervous system depressant.
I had surgery for a Spinal Cord Stimulator implant in Feb and Oct. It helps but not to the point of me feeling content.
What could possibly be going on?
I know I need to see a Dr. I saw one yesterday and she didn't even do anything or suggest anything for me. I'm going today to primary Dr. for the blood pressure even though the blood pressure meds didn't help at all.
The meds Flexeril is a muscle relaxer, Zofran for nausea, Suboxone used to keep patients from taking opiate pain meds, Inderal for blood pressure, Celebrex is an anti-inflammatory, Trazodone is for sleep, Protonix is for acid reflux. Cymbalta is for depression that I got from the pain meds.
I don't really exercise due to not enough time in my day and I take and pick up my kids from school. My husband cooks the meals but won't help out with other things around the house. The six years I was on pain meds made it so that the house just got messier and it's hard to catch up after all those years. I was wondering if I could have anxiety.
Chrys replied: "you need to see a Dr..Yahoo is not a clinic, hospital or Dr's office."
Nemo replied: "I'm no doctor, but you are taking many medicines. Doctors actually don't like to prescribe too many. I know, I've been there too.
I don't know too much about you but can I suggest you make some modifications to your routine.
Try to immediately reduce processed foods.
Incorporate seaweed into your diet for iodine. Try fish sushi as it's very healthy.
Eat some salads, no cheese, reduce eggs, and other saturated fats.
No processed meats.
Try going vegetarian for a few days, and when you desire to eat meat again, do so, such as lean chicken or fish.
Get plenty of sunlight, and walk as much as you can. It's amazing how walking can lift our spirits.
I was able to reduce my BP by doing the above.
Iodine is a known healer, and was prescribed when everything else failed.
You will have to tell yourself you are in no hurry, just repeat those words over and over. Sit in the gardens and enjoy them.
This is only part of your answer as I'm not familiar with those meds you mentioned. Feel better soon!"
