VOLTAREN aka Diclofenac Sodium...Have you taken it?Reactions?Side effects? How long did it take 2 work? I was prescribed this for mild/severe back pain and I'm wondering if it worked for anyone else or how it felt when they took it, if it relieved the pain as well? I have Darvocet as well that my Doc. said I could take but I didn't know if it will be necessary to take that on top of Voltaren.

stahlcyndi replied: "I have taken Voltran now for 3 yrs. sometimes it mess's with my stomach. And I eat yogurt to replace the bacteria I had lost.I think a good week to work when I first started(Fibromyalgia) Darvocet didn't even tough the pain I was in after awhile and yes the valium did help me sleep better.. Take Care, Cyndi"

How long does Diclofenac (Voltaren) last in the body? I was told not to take it with Zoloft. I took Zoloft this morning, although I did take 150 mg of Diclofenac yesterday, my last dose being about 5.30 pm and my first dose of Zoloft being about 9.30 am today. I know the half-life is 1.2-2 hr, but I'm not good with math, I just want to know if it was safe for me to take Zoloft when I did, and if Diclofenac was out my system by that time. Thanks

Kate from Drugs.com replied: "It takes approximately 5.5 half lives before the drug is completely out of your system. As the half life is 2 hours it would take about 11 hours (2 hours x 5.5 half lives) before diclofenac would have been out of your system,so theoretically you would have been diclofenac free by 4.30 am. So it was safe for you to take Zoloft at 9.30 am."

My 11 y.o staffy is on Deramaxx, is there any reason I can't give her my Voltaren or Celebrex ??? She has a 2" hard lump around her ribs and within days of this coming up (overnight) she started limping with her hind leg on the same side as the lump. Vet aspirated and put her on Deramaxx 50mg per day. Couldn't find anything without further tests which would cost $500 and she said outcome didn't look good anyway, then surgery would be $$$ more if this was even possible. Decided to treat pallatively as her life expectancy is a further year or two without any health problems. Bought Deramaxx today for the next 40 days (50mg on alternate days) but I was wondering if there was any reason she can't be given Voltaren or Celebrex (which I understand is a Cox-2) for financial reasons ??? I have also started her on Glucosamine sulfate 1000mg. I can't find anywhere in Australia that sells dog medications over the internet at a reduced price and American websites have expensive shipping costs. Thanks in advance.

mystic replied: "deramax is an anti imfammatary and so is the voltaren and celebrex so if cost is a problem maybe try a product called Rimadyl is a bit cheaper but can be only purchasef at a vet also try a natural remedie called sashasblend its a powder you put on her food which helps with arthritic problems and is all natural which i havent heard a complaint yet and i work at a vet clinic as a vet nurse so maybe just give that a go. Good Luck !!!!"

Goldengal replied: "Deramax is an ant inflammatory medication. Human medications should never be given to a dog unless your vet has OKd them. You need to call your vet have them explain to you why she is on the meds she is on and your confused as to what your giving your dog."

Joe.Breezy replied: "The lump on the leg and the limp concerns me because my girl started out with the same symptoms. It turned out to be Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). I too have her on deramaxx and it works great. As for putting your dog on celebrex. If you do a general google search for (celebrex for dogs) you will find many different answers that you require. Hope this helps."

potogold replied: "I suggest you ring around the vets in your area and ask how much they charge for Deramaxx, I live in Australia too and you will be amazed how some vets charge twice the amount as others. I hope your girl responds well to the treatment. Good Luck"

BJ replied: "FIrst off Deramaxx is a non-steroid which is given to dogs some of the side effect's are: Vomiting Change in bowel movements such as diarrhea or change in stool color Change in drinking or urination Decrease in appetite Change in behavior, such as depression or restlessness I wouldn't worry to much about this drug as I would others that are on the market. However, I would check with your vet about the knots that have been found. You can have your Vet do blood values (bloodwork) on you pet also to rule out a lot of issues. He/she should have the blood work done to check the kidney's & liver while on non-steroids anyway."

more pain after using voltaren gel? I have pain in my feet. Doctor told me it can be arthritis. He gave me prescription for voltaren gel. After using it for 2 days Pain is worse. Now all my legs hurt, not only feet. Did anyone have same problem?

sokokl replied: "I have a friend who has been using Voltaren Gel and she has not had any problems with it. It sounds like you might be having a side effect from the product but I would recommend checking with your pharmacist and doctor as well to see what they say."

Hubby had headache for 2 weeks? My husband has had a headache for 2 weeks. He hardly ever gets a headache. Painkillers don't sort it out and he's had a voltaren injection today, which also didn't help. He has no other symptoms. He recently has been to a very low and very high altitude. Could it be something to do with that?

Pet lover replied: "Possible. The low and high altitudes might have been messing with his brain for a bit. Ask a doctor, if it gets really worse."

BT replied: "He didn't want sex"

Soon to be Mrs G! replied: "My partner went into hospital after having a really bad headaches and he ended up having a brain tumar so bring him to the hospital hope everythings ok"

Maggie replied: "Headaches can be caused by so many things. I had bad headaches and found out I had dangerously high blood pressure, so he should get checked out by his doctor to find out the reason."

Jennifer replied: "I have these also. I get them when stress causes the muscles in my neck and shoulders to tense. The best thing for me is to take ibuprofen. The other thing that helps be in using a massager. I found mine on. They have several to choose from. Good Luck."

I Am The Walrus replied: "Probably boss-related."

Has anyone taken an anti-inflammatory for arthritis and gained weight? I have been taking anti-inflammatory (Mobic) for about 2 years now and I have gained 30# even with exercising 4-5 times a week and dieting. I need to take them for my knees, but the excess weight is hurting me more than ever. I spoke to my doctor, but he changed my script to Voltaren, which is another anti-inflammatory and I am afraid to take it for fear of gaining even more weight. Does anyone have any suggestions?

kcbooboo6789 replied: "You should try Mona Vie. Check out my site- you can read and watch testimonials about how it helped relieve joint and muscle for many people. It really works. "

Can anyone recommend any OTC medications for arthritis in the knee for a 60 year old man.? For the past 2 weeks my left knee has been inflamed with arthritis. X-rays were taken and were negative. I was given Voltaren Gel by my doctor which has helped. Does anyone know of any over the counter meds that have worked for them.

jadegreenkaty replied: "Try Aleve or Ibuprofin. They work quite well, but be sure to eat something before you take them as they may upset your stomach. You also might try a moist heating pad to help with the pain."

justmeinthisworld replied: "any NSAID--Aleve used to be rx naproxen- you need to take it for a fe weeks to be effective"

I have bulging disk low in back, had 2 cortisone inj., today after 2nd one my arms felt like an electric fence? I was diagnosed with a bulging disk and degenerative disk disease after months of nerve pain in my leg and back pain. I had 2 cortisone shots (one this morning). the first one went fine, but after 3 weeks pain was back to old intensity. i just got my second shot this morning at 9, and by 1.30 my arms felt like they were both in an electric fence. excruciating pain! went back to the pain specialist and got some nerve tests done and it said I had abnormal test results for my median and ulnar nerves, but that I need to get tested further because the machine said consider neuropathy in my r. and l. ulnar. put some voltaren on it (prescribed) made it go away, but I think its starting to come back. So my question is, has anybody had these symptoms? Can the back and arms be related? (doctor said no) Any information would be great! I'm getting referred to a neurologist for the rest of the tests.

Chas.B replied: "Yeah your back and arms can be related,, but you need to go back to your doctor,,, that's not a normal reaction at all,, you sure shouldn't be feeling nerve pains. I'm guessing the nerve test you had was the nerve conductivity test,,, you need to go see your ortho or neuro doc. You are probably going to start taking something like Neurontin or Lyrica Here is a site that will give you all kinds of great information WATCH OUT FOR THE LINK IN THE ANSWER ABOVE MINE,, IT'S ANOTHER SCAM ONE!! REPORT IT!! tHE LIVEPOL ONE,,,,"

Wicked Good replied: "Yes, I have neuropathy that developed after a back injury. At first the pain specialist thought it was RSD but after getting a second opinion I was finally diagnosed with nueropathy. I have found Lyrica to be the best to help with that electrical nerve pain. Hopefully you will get to see a neurologist soon as it's excruciating I well know."

Can Early Kidney Damage Be Reversed? I've been on a NSAID painkiller (Voltaren) for six years and on a high-protein diet for almost 2 years and now I've discovered that I have high blood pressure, which also can damage the kidneys so, there's evidence that my kidneys may have been harmed. I stopped taking the Voltaren and I'm eating less protein but, my question is: Can such early (mild) damage to the kidneys be reversed by Natural treaments? Is there hope?

? replied: "that would depend on how early the harmful sources are removed; usually when we say early, it means a few months two years with high protein diet and presence of hypertension indicates the POSSIBLE permanent renal damage (not for sure, because the date u've provided is very limited) I suggest that you look into the toilet to see if there are foams in your urine every time you pee; if there is, then probably you're conditions are very serious for more info concerning kidney diseases, please read this blog: I find it VERY INFORMATIVE"

Nelly Welly Jelly Belly replied: "hi there. 6 years is too much time, even for the slowest deterioration speed, for it to be early enough to be reversed. as for natural remedies i would make sure to talk to a very experienced (and helpful) doctor before i went down this route. the reason being that the majority of natural remedies are in fact harmful to kidney patients and make them worse instead of better."
