Is it safe to do Hair Formula 37 while on Accutane? I want longer hair faster but there are so many things you can't do while on Accutane.

natalia c replied: "Is that a multivitamin formula? Check the back of the bottle to see how much Vitamin A it contains. If you're on accutane you should not take Vitamin A supplements containing over 5000IU of Vitamin A. This can be toxic. Please confirm with your doctor and remember DO NOT GET PREGNANT while you're on accutane. Try this blog for acne advice"

Hair removal products while on accutane? I am currently on my 2nd month of accutane and I need to remove hair down there if you know what I mean. I Hate shaving because it doesn't work well at all in that area and waxing is out of the question while on accutane. Help?

They make depilatory creams fro that area specifically too :P Some good brands are Nads - they dont test on animals... or just your generic like nair and sally hansen :\ gl!"

Hair loss from taking Accutane after treatment? I finished the Accutane treatment about 2 months ago and my hair falls out. It's getting increasingly thinner and I'm becoming really worried about it. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Dr. Lisa Minalto replied: "year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss. the things that really worked for me was: 1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp; 2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation; 3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage; 4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three); 5) also I used herbal treatment - Provillus (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!) It is a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important! It worked and still works for me! I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss! Also Informative video about Provillus - good luck! not only my own personal experience + working as a family physician"

Martha replied: "I'm finishing up accutane and my friend warned me that her hair fell out excessively after she finished her treatment. Her doctor told her to take a vitamin A supplement everyday, and the hair loss stopped. She slowly weened herself off the vitamin A over a 6 month time period. Let me know if this works! I have 5 weeks left and I would be a lot less stressed if I knew for sure what to do."

Melanie V replied: "Be sure to take biotin. Accutane causes biotin deficiency. Biotin is very important for hair growth. Do not take any vitamin supplements that have Vitamin A. Accutane increases Vitamin A levels. Vitamin A toxicity causes hair loss. Limiting foods high in Vitamin A may also be helpful while you're on this medication."

Can Accutane make you lose your hair? Anyone who knows Accutane, knows that there are side-effects. However, I heard that one of them, is that it makes you lose your hair. Is that true? See, I'm aware of most of the side-effects of Accutane, and I have no problem with that. However, if that one certain condition is true, well than I'm not gonna bother with Accutane. So, does anyone have any conclusive information or experience about this matter?

Medical student class of 2008 replied: "I've been on Accutane before. I was on it for about 6 months. The way that the medication works is that it's really just a super high does of vitamin A. At very high doses, vitamin A turns off all of your oil producing glands. Acne is caused by bacteria that grow within the oil glands when they get clogged (normally by skin cells or dirt). The symptoms of accutane include very dry skin, eyes, nasal passages, and lips. I had to constantly carry around chap stick since my lips were crazy dry. Also your skin may also be very dry and itchy and you will end up applying lotion several times per day. The only other major symptom that I had was it did run me to the bathroom a bit for the first week or so. The mechanism of action for the drug as I've listed above does not involve hair loss. I never experienced any hair loss when I was on the drug either. Overall it's a good drug with the side effects aside. I hope this helps."

the.educ8r replied: "to make hair grow take some Nettle, Rosemary be it either in herb or tinture form."

Lost hair on accutane, will it grow back? I've been taking accutane for 1.5 months, first month was 40mg this month was 80mg. Well I've decided to stop taking it because I've noticed my hair getting thinner expecially at the temples. My hair was really thick to begin with but now it's a bit thinner but I want it back to how it was before. I'm 16 and I really hope the hair loss I experienced isn't permanent and if I take biotin 5mg a day it should come back? By the way my dermatologist doesn't really know anything..

chryxz replied: "You should talk to the dermotologist who gave you the accutane. He/She will know better than anyone on here. Don't just decide to do things on your own."

SARAH G replied: "It will grow back once you stop taking the accutane."

Gloria P replied: "My bro took accutane and nothing happened to him. Not like that, anyways.... having an extremely overprotective mother helped, but, then again, if you have any odd side effects you should go straight to your doctor."

Matt H replied: "I just finished my last two pills of Accutane yesterday! (I must say that I am thrilled.) To answer your question: the percentage of patients who experience hair loss is very VERY low. If you happen to be one of them, the hair will return to it's pre-Accutane state, to my knowledge. I frequent the website. It has a great, informative messageboard with many people who are on Accutane! I HIGHLY recommend this drug--it's the best decision I've ever made."

harryb replied: "I took Accutane back in the early 80s. Although its thinned some(I believe due to aging), I still have a full head of hair. I`d also like to say I`m happy that Accutane was available to treat my horrible acne. BTW, my skin is STILL clear!"
