my doctor gave a prescription for alesse birth control? when i got the prescription filled, they gave me aviane, is that the same thing?

alm27 replied: "yes that is the same pill, aviane is the one of the generic versions. so yes they gave you the correct pills. no worries. good luck."

skyblue replied: "Call the pharmacy and ask them."

How much does birth control cost ? Alesse ? Okay so i recently got a prescription for Alesse , but i havent gotten it filled yet . Im just wondering how much its going to cost me .. i live and canada . I have medical coverage and i know it pays for %80 of most things but i dont know if it counts for this sort of thing .

Brooklynn replied: "well im on tri nessa and i would think it would be the same. um i live in america so yea but i think it should be relitivly the same. as long as you have health insurance it should cover most of it. my birth control costs me a total of 5 dollars. medical insurance does cover it"

Anne replied: "In the US it is around $30 dollars...$10 with insurance...pretty cheap compared to other options. It was the first one of many that didn't mess with my hormones."

girsalias replied: "It varies from place to place and method to method, so your best bet is to call your pharmacy and see what it'll cost through them. They'll be able to tell you if your medical program will cover it, how much it'll cover, and how much you'll pay with and without coverage. It also helps to call a few places to see if you can get a better price."

Do I have to start on Day 1 of my Alesse birth control pack? Being busy with final exams, I forgot to pick up my refill of Alesse 28 for this month (which I was supposed to start today). Several months ago, I stopped taking Alesse at around Day 12 or so, but once it came time to begin a new pack, I started taking it again, and have been taking it regularly ever since. Because I forgot to pick up this month's pack, I thought about taking the leftover pills from the pack that I never finished until I can go get my prescription filled for this month, probably sometime later this week. Is this safe? Are all of the pink pills the same, or is it a bad idea not to start with a Day 1 pill? I couldn't find an answer to this in the booklet that comes with Alesse. Thanks!

Stina replied: "It may mess up your hormone flow and you may spot for a few days. I'm not sure where you should start, but your best bet is to contact a doctor!"

Seraphim replied: "Alesse is a monophasic pill, so all the active pills are exactly the same. It doesn't matter what order your take them in, as long as you take one a day. The days marked on the pack just help you remember if you have taken it that day or not. I save the active few pills I skipped, just in case I have a delay in getting my next pack. I take the leftovers, then continue with the new pack where I would have been up to if I had been taking them all from that pack. At the end of that pack, I put the spares away until next time I have a delay in renewing my prescription."

What do you know about alesse? i just got a prescription for alesse birth control pills, but I cant find much about it online. What can anyone tell me about it? How good is it, anyone have complaints, side effects, etc

Tara662 replied: "I took Alesse for seven years. It's a low-dose pill and they have less side effects. What specifically do you need to know? Please add more details to your question."

When should I start taking Alesse? Well heres the dealio. I thought I would have had more time before my next period, like till monday so i could go to the pharmacy and pick up my alesse prescription. However, I gots me period yesterday (Friday night) and I was told to start taking it the first day of my next period by my doctor. The pharmacy is not open till monday...so can i take it monday or will it completely screw me over and something bad will happen? I think i may still have my period monday or else it wil b the first day after. What are my options? I really dont wanna wait for my next period in june to take it cuz i think....you know. ready for the big S E X haha. Is there a possiblity that I'm not SOL? (s*** outta luck) Thanks I think I am ready for sex. Ive talked to my doctor and parents about it, Ive talked to my boyfriend. I'm only geting opinions. Im 16 almost 17. I know that may be young, but I would never have sex if i didnt feel comfortable. My mom got pregnant when she was16. its important for me to have birth control, to use condoms, to take many precautions because I dont want that same thing to happen to me. Just because I'm searching for more information on teh birth control alone, doesnt mean I'm not ready or mature enough for sex. It just means that I am searching for information. Who said I would take all this to heart or actually believe it? People being generous wit their words and advice is nice to have. Everyone has different experiences. So, maybe next time, you shouldnt answer questions and put down someone...(first answer) if you really dont no the person and are making assumptions of the way they are and rushing to a conclusion without really knowing where they come from.

Bob replied: "Sounds to me like you're not ready for the big SEX. When you get the pills, start taking them, your period should regulate itself the next month and then you'll know when your period is starting. If you think ppl here are smarter than your doctor, you're probably not mature enough to have sex."

I've been on birth control pills for 3 months. I need a new prescription. Will they do a PAP Test? I have been on Alesse for 3 months now and my doctor told me to come back after the 3 months for a new prescription. Is he going to do a PAP test now or wait one year?

JS replied: "If you had a pap when he prescribed them to you........then you won't need another for a year. I think they are just bringing you in to see how you are handling the bc pills."

katty replied: "If you have already had a pap then no it will be a year later from 1st one. Your doctor needs to monitor you and see what signs and symptoms if any have occurred during the prior 90 days. Birth control pills can and eventually create problems vascular in your body."

zydeco replied: "If you had a pap smear done when your doctor first put you on these pills, you shouldn't need to have another one done. A pap is used to check for cervical cancer. He shouldn't need to do an internal exam unless you might be having problems or experiencing pain since you've been on the pill. Maybe he just gave you a 3 month prescription to see just how your body would react to these pills."

Kelly M replied: "A yearly PAP test is usually all that is required when you are on BCP unless you are having any problems or the first PAP came out abnormal. The 3 month check up is just a follow up to see how you are doing on the new pills. Make sure you make a list of any new signs and symptoms that may have come up during the last 3 months even if you think they may be unrelated to the pill like headaches, change in your vision or skin break-outs to name a few because this may be a sign that your prescription may need to be changed. Always write down questions you may have for your doctor or nurse because when you get there you often forget. Good luck and good health!"

S P replied: "They might do one. I started birth control pills at 12 and ended at 18 and never had a pap."

Is there a difference with generic birth control and the real thing? So today I finally got my birth control and will start today. My prescription said Alesse, but apperently they gave me generic (Lessina-28). Is there a difference? I am really dreading side-effects. Anyone had any with lessina?

caffsans replied: "I think a lot of pills are going generic so that we can afford to buy them and they do the same job that I know of"

ladyluck replied: "There is nothing different about generic and name brand. They have the same active ingredients. It's the fillers that are different. They work the same way. By law, the pharmacy has to give you the generic unless the Md specifically writes "no substitutions". The side effects are going to be the same. Don't worry. If you do have side-effects just stop taking the medication and call your Md to try a different one."

Adrianne R replied: "No just the generic brand is more cheaper then the name brand still works the same. Any type of pill will have side effects but not every one has them. They just put that there to warn you."

Hatti replied: "As far as a generic verses a brand name in this case there is no difference. It is all estrogen based and that is what works. Many do not have any side effects. Some have a little bloating or like a mild morning sickness for a few days but that goes away quickly. Don't worry about it be safe not sorry!!"

howdy replied: "no difference between them both. think of it as the store brand which it cheaper and the name brand which cost more. maybe your insurance did't cover the name brand, but covered the "store brand""

Side effects for first time Alesse users? I am 16 years old and have just gotten a prescription for Alesse to treat mild acne. I'm also hoping it will help with my killer cramps that make it impossible for me to even walk... In the list of drugs you should not take with it, acetaminophen is listed. Like Advil? i am not sexualy active and i was wondering if the advil just effects the birth control aspects of the pill, or are there actual "drug interactions" that occur? can i take advil for headaches/pain still? Also, i am pretty nervous because i have heard some stories of weight gain because of Alesse. At 5'9' and 145, i have an athletic build, so most of it is muscle. but i dont want to gain any more weight. lastly, i know that in the first few months of taking BC you get a lot of spotting. i dont know if i'm the only one, but i like to keep my underwear pretty. should i just wear pantyliners all the time now? also, please dont just tell me to talk to my doctor. i have. im just a nervous nellie and i want as many opinions as i can get sorry its so long, but thanks to anyone who will answer

sokokl replied: "You can probably take Advil since it is in the class with Ibuprofen, but I would recommend checking with your pharmacist and doctor as well before trying it to see what they say. I know that you don't want to talk to your doctor about this but the only way to know is for them to see what they say. The weight gain that can occur with the pill such as Alesse is mostly water because of the hormones in the medication. As for the spotting, you can start wearing pantyliners around the time that you start spotting. If you notice a spot on your panties (such as when you are at school) then when you go home just run the panties under some cold water and that will help with clearing out the stain. I am also going to give you the link to a site that may help you find more information. The link is at: "

what is the difference between Alesse and Aviane? I went to get my prescription of Alesse when I was told it had been discontinued and switched to a generic (and much cheaper!) Aviane? Now i have been doing some research online and have found that it can make a big differences in some cases (bad nausea, bloating, migraines, weight gain!) and others that it had made no difference at all.? so i wanted to know what is the difference between the tow then? do both of them have the same ingredients and amount of ingredients in them? or why has Aviane had some side effects when Alesse had not?] thanks !

Brian replied: "All what concerns the ingredients and the chemicals are the same. In the US, a brand name drug and a generic drug have to be equivalent, meaning that they have to have the same medical effect. And generic of course, should be much cheaper, cause it is produced by a different manufacturer. Actually, when it comes to generic Aviane, they say it has more side effects and lowers the sexual drive, while generic Alesse does not. After Walgreen's pharmacy told my gf they will only fill her prescription for Alesse with Avaine, we went online and purchased generic Alesse with the reputable PharmacyNextDoor.com We have to wait about 10 days before we got the medications, but oh well, at least that is what my wife has been prescribed!
