is Cymbalta okay to take during pregnancy? i have always been emotional and prone to depression, but since i have became pregnant, i feel so much more hopelessness than usual, with self-image, financial and relationship issues. my councelor and my doctor are going to collaborate and prescribe a medication for me take. my mom says cymbalta has worked for her, and it seems like something that will work for me as well. i don't know about meds which ones you can and can't take during pregnancy. anyone know?

nothingconstant replied: "I personally have not taken any drugs during my pregnancy. I know depression blows, but lots of these antidepressants, especially newer ones like Cymbalta, are not fully understood in their mechanisms. I have also heard that some anti-depressants can cause birth/mental defects. It was on a show I watched at one time. Please think long and hard before subjecting your young one to any of it."

It may be depending on your doctors, but mine are only ok with stuff like lexapro, prozac, etc. I don't believe many studies have been able to be done on Cymbalta yet."

how do I get financial assistance for prescriptions for a friend who recently had her leg amputated? Her family's financial situation is heart breaking. Her teenage daughter recently had a baby and the boyfriend just moved in with them. They are barely squeaking by. She has several pain medications she cannot afford. She has other health ailments. Any suggestions? Meds: Avinza, Diovan, Fiorinal, Ativan, Cymbalta

mathwizard replied: "Try Partnership for Prescription Assistance. Here's the link:"

Butch H replied: "check the new medicare plans SOCIAL SECURITY"

lighthouse_lover92 replied: "If she is unable to work which I'm guessing she is then contact the Social Security Administration. Also she should qualify for assistance through the state welfare department. This should include medical coverage and prescriptions. If she doesn't qualify for these then try and contact the manufacturers of the meds. Most of them have programs to help people who can't afford the meds they need. I hope that your friend feels better soon and I wish you all the best of luck."

butterscotchx2 replied: "will she be eligible for SSI/disability? If so, when that is approved, the new prescription plans do work. Ask any pharmacy to give you information, they all have it. If that route is not option right now, see: Pfizer, Inc. @ 1-800-707-08990 Abbott 1-800-222-6885 search web for a program called TogetherRx These are all good programs, and help to locate resources for medications. Also, she might ask her doctor. Most have free samples in the office provided by drug co. sales reps. Doctors are happy to hand those out, and to hit up their sales reps for higher supplies, also. Hope any of this helps! Been there, done that, it sucks. Best of luck to her, in all ways. God bless."

eddweeness replied: "I highly doubt she would not qualify for SSI. She lost a limb; that is a disability. Call the dshs to ask if there is someone like an advocate who could help her fill out the forms. Call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 to ask them to send a packet to apply for SSI, and I think you have to specify how many docs that have her records. I kept putting it off for my son thinking I had to compile all the medical records, and I was wrong, they do that themselves, you just sign the release of info. My son has Tourette Syndrome, and I got letters from doctors and teachers/day care to submit with my application to back up information about problems he has and he was approved within a month and a half, and they pay a lump sum of all the back money from the day applied."
