Is a Cadillac CTS a good reliable car? I currently have a Toyota Camry with 170,000 miles. Great car never had any problems with it, Toyotas are great. I really like Cadillacs and have had my eye on the CTS the 6 cylinder version for a while now. Looking at ones in the 7-10k range found some with like 80k miles on them. I know a Cadillac won't be a Toyota in terms of its life, maintenance, etc but overall are they pretty reliable good cars?

zero replied: "i think at the 80,000 miles you'll probably have to put down some cash for maintenance and repairs. i'ver never heard anybody talk up how reliable their cadillac was."

Gene R. Z replied: "General Motors' rear-wheel-drive Cadillac CTS has Consumer Reports' Much-Worse-Than-Average or Worse-Than-Average Reliability Verdict for the following model years: 2003 2005 2006 2007 2008. The rear-wheel-drive CTS is on AutoOnInfo.net's list of the Worst Automobiles of 2009, with a Composite Reliability Value of -.50 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00. And AutoOnInfo.net's detailed reliability and durability studies suggest that a typical 22-year-old Toyota vehicle should be about as troublesome to own as a typical 3-year-old Cadillac. hello i was going to get my son a porsche boxster or a cadillac cts . which ones more reliable.? he had told me he narrowed his car list down to these. are these cars reliable

kawasaki replied: "the cadillac cts is more reliable.alot cheaper to if something would ever go wrong with it."

amt2be replied: "if you can afford either one, reliability isn't really an issue. nevertheless, go for the cadillac"

JD A replied: "depends really on what his personal preference is. if i were you i would get him a used 911 turbo (probably around the same price as a new boxster s) in my local newspaper there is a 07 with 12k miles for just 55k thats a great deal. A cts id newer in the market and it doesnt really have the history that a porsche has. cadillac just entered the big boy races while porsche has been in there for a long time. Both cars will last just about the same time. Yes they are extremly relable and they are both a great investment. tell him to consider a 335i or maybe a base model m3 these are also built for speed and have a great history of reliability behind them. FOr these cars the main thing to look for is now probably his taste. Porsches are generally more appealing to younger drivers while the common stereotype for cadillacs is movie stars and people over 50 Hope this helps"

Alex E replied: "Go ahead get the teenager a Porsche. You remember James Dean right?"

Which car should I buy, a 2008 G35 Sedan or a 2008 Cadillac CTS? I know that G35 has consistently done well in the past as far as quality and reliability but I don't know much about Cadillac CTS. Is the CTS a reliable/quality car. I know the CTS for 2008 has gotten many rave reviews from its new look to many of its features. Also which is cheaper to service...

Te replied: "G35, cuz they rock. the sedan is awesome."

aqib11219 replied: "the g35 is crazy"

Jeep! Jeep! replied: "G35"

shawn l replied: "i would go with the 2008 G35 sedan"

johnnytrulove replied: "i went and looked at the cts about a week ago, its a beautiful car, but i wnated something a little better on gas, so i ended up getting the new 2008 c300 mercedes benz, i really really love my new car!! u should check it out"

sarahmarah24 replied: "Definitely the G35 Sedan. It gets better gas mileage."

accomacgeo replied: "i would go for the g-35 gas is not going down and the workmanship is great take a ride in on and see"

silllybillly replied: "deFF the g35 ."

Should I buy a used Cadillac CTS car or lease a new Acura TL? I am looking at either buying a used Cadillac CTS with no more than 39k miles on it. The prices are in my range about 16-25k depending on what kind of deal the dealer made originally. I figure a cadi will be reliable and I can get a warranty extended. I would probably put down 4k. But I also am looking at possible leasing one of the new Acura TL, or the Infiniti g37. Does anyone have any good advice?

Janet replied: "lease the Acura"

ivtecpakiness83 replied: "go with the acura or g37, they will last you much longer and are more reliable. plus they have a better resale value"

Mishill Obama replied: "Cadillac is US made and always better"

jareyn2002 replied: "Get a Lexus 300 LE and you wil never regret it Better than Cad or Acura"

Grapejuice replied: "Lease ONLY if you like the idea of getting a different new car every 3 to 4 years. That way you are only paying for the vehicle during the time you use it. If you are more apt to keep a car till it is no longer capable of driving any more (or for a lot longer then 4 years) then purchase."

mccoyblues replied: "The new Acura TL is by far the ugliest vehicle on the showroom floors today. As much as I like Honda/Acura I can't get past this ugly mug. Take a really good look at it and the Cadillac should be the obvious choice. But I would lease a new CTS. I wouldn't buy an old Cadillac with 40K miles."

Fonz replied: "NEVER lease.. Get the Cadillac.. The lease will have mileage restrictions and you will be responsible for any dings and scratches. NEVER lease.. Also, when you pay off the Caddy you will own it. When you pay off the lease, you have nothing."

ridewithgdotcom replied: "The G37 and Acura leases are so-so this month. They will lease better next year, around Feb/March. Manufacturer banks are still charging 6.9%+ interest on the 09 G37 and TL right now. You might want to inquire about low interest financing on the CTS. GM may be willing to give you more discounts since they are having a Red Tag sale."

Aa B replied: "Neither. Leasing is a bad idea (financially), and the Cadillac is absolute rubbish. Buy a used car, but choose something better in your price range."

CHARITY G replied: "If you can hold off . . . do so . . . you may be able to buy a new caddy next year for what you would pay for a used this year . . . inventories are starting to build up . . . so if you can wait until Spring you'll get a much better deal no matter which car you choose We are also holding off buying a caddy as well . . . my uncle owns a dealership and he told us to wait . . . prices are dropping quick."

beatle1909 replied: "Buy used."

Pfo replied: "My grandma got one of those Cadillacs, they are very nice. I don't like it though, too big and bulky. If you lease the Acura, you'll have to get a new car in the future. With the Cadillac, you can keep it as long as you want."

odzookers replied: "Buying vs leasing depends on the mileage you put on, the tax breaks you need, and how long you generally keep a car. Consumer Reports offers a reprint of an article about buying vs. leasing--google them and get it. There's a joker in the deck, too--these days car dealers are drooling to get lease customers--they can figure the payment on deflated depreciation, claim a jiggered resale value, and start with a full retail price--all bad for you. On the other hand, they're dying to sell cars--ANY cars, and this is the time to get the best deals. By the way, the CTS IS a nice car, but how many years old is it to have 39K miles on it? How many per year? Do you get all the maintenance records, and a report from carfax.com as part of your decision-making process? I wouldn't deal with someone who doesn't offer those last two things. Oh yeah, and Consumers Union (Reports) also offers help in buying a used car, and they charge next to nothing."

Stupid Flanders replied: "Buying a used Cadillac is just asking for problems. I know it is tempting since you can get a 3 year old one at about half the price of what you would pay new, but in this case you get what you pay for. My Dad had a 1994, 1998 and 2001 Cadillac STS models he bought used. The 1994 was a great vehicle, and the other 2 were total garbage."

chuckles951 replied: "DO NOT lease a car. You end up paying more in the long run, specially if you go over on the miles. and almost everyone does. You are better off buying a 2-3 year old car than leasing a new one."

2008 cadillac cts or mercedes c300 or bmw 3 series or audi a4 sedan? i'm planning on buying a car with a budget of 30 - 40k. which one would you recommend out of this selection? i'm looking for: best in resale value after a few years. most reliable- meaning it doesnt break down and need a lot of repair just after few years. also which one doesn't use gas too much. thanks for good advices.

agcuevo replied: "if ur thinking about getting a bmw 3 series might as well get a m3 --HOT CAR.. everyone loves an m3... but from your preferences sounds like you would want a toyota matrix hybrid haha.. just kidding --get the m3"

Keelo Lulu replied: "On resale value: if the gas price keeps going up, those cars will not have good resale values."

CHAR L replied: "Do NOT buy the CST from experience they are poorly made. I know someone who's CST broke down 12 times and it was brand new. I was told by a dealership that they are bad cars. Not to mention that a caddy is nothing more than a high priced Chevy. BMW's have the least maintenance issues"

Timothy replied: "Alright, this is a tough choice.  I like all these cars myself.  I know I'm only 15 but, I think that bmw, and mercedes has a couple of hybrids.  That will save a lot of money on gas.  Mercedes is very reliable and they have the best technology.  (German cars).  I don't know... it's a tough choice.  If you ask me I would choose a Mercedes or a BMW.Good luck!  :)"

John D replied: "Mercedes C300 because it is better"

Bob W replied: "If you were serious you would not worry about resale value and gas mileage. Folks with that kind of spending ability do not concern themselves that way. My daughter just got a BMW 328i...I think that is what is it...the little 2dr coupe and it in one fine set of wheels...I may have the numbers wrong because I drive a 13 year old Avalon and do not run with that Beemer bunch but I think I'm right"

DaGUnsterrr I replied: "i think u shud get a mercedes cuz i have one to nd its drives amazingly!! its a very nice smooth car nd it looks fantastic! take this answer and i think u shud buy one toooo!"

daviejones replied: "avoid the American car its not good, Audi or Bmw is your best bet get the rs4 or m3 if your budget will stretch"

matt n replied: "lexus thats what i would buy"

Chad D replied: "Ok I'm a luxury car guy and I'm gonna guide you through some of these answers. Anyone who says a CTS is just an overpriced Chevy is an idiot. Anyone who tells you to buy an M3 or RS4 instead is an idiot(they are $60-$70K). With that said here is my opinion. The CTS is bigger than the other cars. It's in the class of the 5-Series, E-Class, and A6. The A4 will have the best interior, the BMW will be the best driver, and the Benz will have the most prestige. It depends all on what you want. As far as looks I personally think the CTS looks best. It has a lot of road presence which is rare for an entry level luxury car. All of them are good cars for different reasons. If you're going towards the A4 wait a few months because the next gen A4(which beat the C-Class in a recent comparison) is coming out in a few months. I would also recommend you look at the Infiniti M35. Also buy these cars USED because you can save $5-7K just going a year used."

polishown3r replied: "3 series BMW... all the way. I have an M3, one of the best cars I have had. I've had over a dozen, and whenever I buy a new car, I normally spend 2 months researching. Yeah, I'm nutz. It's very reliable, never have had to take it to the shop (excluding oil changes). It's good resale value, since it is such a known name and expensive brand. And the mileage isn't a hybrid, but for the type of vehicle you're getting, sport coupe/sedan (new M3 will be released as both for the first time in 10 years. I have the sedan from 10 years ago), it's verrrry good."

should i buy a cadillac cts 04 or a 07 bmw 3 series? i save 5 grand buying the cadillac? the bmw would be 5 grand more than the cadillac.. which one should i get?? im paying straight cash no loan.. and which is more reliable if i buy the bmw i will only have some money for repairs i dont want to spend all my money on bmw parts. if i buy the cadillac the parts are cheaper and i save 5 grand that i can put towards rims or something. is cadillac reliable?? which one will look better

indianguy replied: "I wouldnt buy that Cadillac. There are some quality issues on the 1st Gen CTS's. I would go with the BMW, it's nicer, better handling, and its a chick magnet. If you get a BMW you wont have to buy rims."

Joe replied: "be American buy American"

bgoharriz replied: "well if i were you...i would look at the 2008 honda accord V6 EX-L with Nav....you are going to spend less and have a much better car...but out of those two....no doubt buy the BMW"

XUSAAAgent replied: "Either you are getting ripped off on the Cadillac, or it is the CTS-V version. Reliability is iffy, build quality is not up to BMW specs and that motor (CTS-v) tends to rip up the transmission and driveline (bad axle hop). The BMW probably still has some warranty on it, as well as total car care all the way thru 50k miles. It will not be as fast, but is built better and is a lot more refined. They also hold their value a lot better. I would do the BMW, or perhaps even look at an Infiniti M35/M45 as a good compromise vehicle (may still be too expensive though). Maybe even hold out for an 05/06 BMW with some warranty and a bigger motor and more options."
