I'm receiving digital channels, but keep losing signal. Do I need a converter or is my TV broken? I believe my roommate and I have a Mitsubishi WS-55511 55 inch TV. My roommate received it from her ex-boyfriend's father (before they broke up). Here is a photo of our TV: As you can see, it uses an antenna on top of the TV. We do not have cable TV, Direct TV, etc. We're trying to save money. We are currently receiving digital channels so I believe this TV is already a digital TV. However, we are having several issues with it. When watching TV, we sometimes lose TV signal. Sometimes we might lose it for 1 second and then it will be normal again for a few seconds and then we'll lose signal again; this might repeat itself over and over again for several minutes. Or, sometimes we will lose the channel completely for several minutes: the TV screen will turn gray and go blank and after a few seconds, the screen will then turn blue and it will have words to the effect of "No signal." This is a huge pain, especially when I'm watching live sports or a very dramatic/interesting part of a TV show. My dad gave me a digital converter box and my roommate and I tried plugging it in, but we tried every single hole in the back and front of the TV and none of the holes fit the cords for the converter box at all. Trust me, we compared all 30 or so holes that are all over the TV and none of them will fit. If I can't find the proper place to insert the cords for the digital converter box, does that mean my TV is already digital and I don't need it? So I guess I have several questions: 1. Do I need a digital converter? Like I stated before, we already appear to be getting digital channels, which are the in between channels like 4.01, 7.02, etc. 2. Is there something wrong with the TV itself? Is the TV bad? Is it the antenna that is on top of the TV that needs to be replaced? Thanks in advance.

Boston replied: "1. Your TV has a built-in digital tuner - you don't need a converter box. 2. Your TV is probably fine. Try repositioning your antenna. You may need to upgrade your antenna if that doesn't work. The higher you place the antenna, the better it will work - on the roof, in the attic, etc."

TV guy replied: "Your TV is OK and you don't need a converter, but you do need a better antenna. Digital TV is also very sensitive to DIRECTION. Check for the best direction for your home. If the TV menu has a "strength meter" for digital channels, use it to best orient the antenna as well."

My TV has gone nuts.? I have a Mitsubishi 55" Projection model WS-55511. Picture flashes on and off and the volume goes up and down on it's own. What's weird about this is it doesn't do it all the time. Oh and my remote works with the cable box but not the TV anymore. I have to get up and turn the TV on and off. And ever time I get up to turn the volume up or down the picture goes black for 2 seconds and comes back.
