how many naproxen 500mg pills can i take at once? ??^^>^^>^^??

jefftourct replied: "usually the recommended dose for an average 21 year old male (me) is 180lbs is 1000mg total (2, 500mg pills). but that's only if its for reducing inflammation for an injury of some sort. its not for back pain or normal aches and pains. its to reduce swelling. depending on what you're taking it for would determine the correct amount. **** also you make sure you take it with food or milk. as naproxen is known sometimes to cause nausea and upset stomach"

carol p replied: "I would say 3 tops."

Anna P replied: "Don't more than 4 every 24 hours. I know it helps but it's overused and can be dangerous if used over an extended period of time."

what would happen if you crush up naproxen? i have a problem swallowing pills and allways have.the pills are naproxen 500mg.but anyways what would happen if i crushed up a pill or two and stuck them underneath my tongue?

SkepDoc 2.0 replied: "It's not formulated to be absorbed in the buccal mucosa, so probably not too much. You could certainly swallow the powder."

Matt replied: "First, try not to crush it, try to cut it in halves so there are still solid pieces, but if you really, really have to go ahead and crush it. As long as it is not an extended release tablet, it is okay to do this. Crushing a pill can slightly change its effectiveness, but not a whole lot. And with the powder, swallow it if you can. Mix it with applesauce or something of that nature."

What effect does alcohol have on your body while taking Naproxen (500mg)? I had knee surgery two months ago and was just issued anti inflammatory pills. There is a warning on the side saying "LIMIT ALCOHOL USE WHILE TAKING THIS DRUG. DAILY USE OF ALCOHOL MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF STOMACH BLEEDING". is it alright to just go to parties on friday/saturday night? is it alright to skip pills accationally, I don't really need them.

Replace replied: "Both the medication and alcohol are irritating to the lining of the stomach and intestines. It takes about a day for so for the effect of either to be gone. I would be VERY careful about using alcohol in any significant or young person's way. And don't take the medication if you don't need it. I bet the label says something like - take one every 4-6 hours as needed."

What are symptoms of low iron, diebetes and hypertension? someone please help? In my family these things are hereditary and for the past month in a half ive been tired, weak, eating off and on and my stomach has been killing me. i went to see a doctor and they gave me prenatal plus w/ 27 mg and naproxen 500mg pills. should i seek furthur help?

kelleybird replied: "I know a little about low iron, I have iron deficiency anemia. My symptoms are tiredness, and a craving for ice, my sleeping patterns will be off sometimes as well as my eating habits. With your stomach hurting I'd be worried with the naproxen. It can irritate your stomach and should it irritate it to the point of bleeding, that could make your iron lower. I have to avoid it because of the stomach irritation and for the fact that I'm on blood thinner. BUT, I am no Dr. and I don't know anything about your situation other than what you've said here. Hope you feel better."

drug abuse? Naproxen 500Mg? Do people abuse Naproxen 500Mg for a high? Same affects as vicoden or Oxycontin pills, if you know that much about it? No i do not plan on using them, FYI, I'm doing a report about harmful prescribed medications. Thanks, any additional information is welcomed and appreciated!

cmsturrock replied: "I've never heard of Naproxen being used to get high, and I don't think it would have that effect. It's a different class of painkiller. 500mg might make someone vomit though, it's rough on the stomach, like aspirin and ibuprofen."

Jay Z replied: "Naproxen is an NSAID and not a narcotic. I guess someone could abuse it but they would not get high! Now people do abuse vicodin, oxycotin, oxycodone, lortab, moriphine and many, many narcotics."

AlternativeMan replied: "no. Disclaimer: This is not a diagnosis or medical examination. I am not a doctor but I am studying Pharmacology And Toxicology. Hope This Helps! "Best Answer" If you liked! :)"

silky1 replied: "naproxen is not an narcotic like vicoden or oxycontin. you can actually purchase it at your local drugstore as an over the counter medication. i use it daily for my rheumatoid arthritis. and i never feel any type of high off this medication."

iknowu replied: "hi ,hey good to see u again ,e-mail me lets talk ok , now i take that for depression but 1000 mg twice a day ,an it don't get me high an i never heard of some one getting high off of it either , so i just guess u got the wrong information on it try the net on the drug to see what u learn from it ok bye 4 now"

Bryan's Princess replied: "check out this website. It will answer all your medication questions for this report your doing. Naproxen like everyone said is like Ibuprofen, not a narcotic. Oxycontin is similar to morphine. Oxycodone is similar to percocet or vicodine. There is also Darvacet, codeine, Diladid, Demurral and many others that are harmful medications. However, these types of medications if perscribed for the right reasons, can also help people. My husband has had 16 brain surgeries in 23 months (brain cancer) and those medications were the only thing that helped him through the severe pain of brain surgery....16 times. Good luck on your report."

x0tayylor0x replied: "hahahah NO. vicodin and oxy are opiates. naproxen isn't."

skyangel2luv replied: "I just got this prescribed to me and it says.. COMMON USES: This medicine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and swelling (inflammation). It is also used to treat headaches, muscle aches, backaches, tendonitis, bursitis, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis,or gout. Naproxen may be used to reduce fever, or relieve minor aches and pain due to the common cold or flu. It may be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. This medicine works by blocking the enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling and fever."

how long does a 500mg naproxan pill last? just wondering becuz i toke a naproxen between 3:30 and 4:30 this afternoon and toke a benadryl allergy and cold pill an hour and 10 minutes ago and they both have Acetaminophen in them and you arent suppose to take two kind of pills with the same ingridient together is the naproxan out of my system by now? i have no clue as to what form the pill is all i know is the doctor gave it to me to take and all it says is naproxen 500mg take tice daily and take with food. i have read though that is does have Acetaminophen in it.

Scavok replied: "What kind of naproxen tablet did you take? Naproxen is generic for aleve or naprosyn and neither contain acetaminophen. Naproxen 500mg recommended dosage is twice daily (as close to every 12 hours as you can). It is mainly metabolized by the kidneys while acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver, so generally they are OK to take together (but not with ibuprofen). But since 500mg naproxen is prescription strength you should ask your doctor or pharmacist first."

kissybertha replied: "napraxon is an anti-inflammatory drug. it is like ibuprofen or Advil have you ever heard of NSAIDS that is what they are. benadryl is a antihistamine drug with acetaminophen in it normal adults can take two 500mg in one dose usually every 4 hours so you should be fine unless you have kidney or liver problems."

.... replied: "I used to take that all the time. It is good for cramps and mild muscle pain or just very mild pain. It doesn't really do anything for me anymore."

Naproxen making me feel a little weird...? I was prescribed naproxen for an abdominal strain, so I took one 500mg pill and I feel a little "off." I'm sort of dizzy and judging by the way I'm moving, it looks like I've been drinking even though I haven't. What's odd is the fact that naproxen is just Aleve, and Aleve has never done anything like this. Even when I take six, I've never been this way. So wtf?

yusuke6989 replied: "You should definitely see a doctor about this. Maybe you're taking a different dosage or there's another factor coming into play. But naproxen shouldn't be giving you those side effects."

SZO replied: "Actually, dizziness and drowsiness are few examples of side effects you can get from Naproxen. So whatever brand it'll be or whether you get a generic naproxen, it can still cause dizziness. Of course, side effects don't occur in every individual who takes the drug. And it might happen even if it didn't the previous times you took the drug. You might be more susceptible to drowsiness with the drug because of certain circumstances (i.e. you're tired, etc.)."

Is Acetaminophen and Naproxen Sodium safe together? One 220MG Naproxen Sodium pill taken four and a half hours ago. Is it safe to take two 500MG Acetaminophen after this four and a half hours? Thanks. The question was actually for my wife. She had a headache earlier so took the Aleve then later got a major hit of menstrual cramps and the Naproxen Sodium does not work for those with her.

stingme replied: "Yes, it is safe, they are in different classes of pain relievers."

Rosie replied: "call Walgreens."

omgithinkiknow replied: "yes, it's safe, just keep alternating them in that manner"

happygolcky75 replied: "ys... just take them in small doses"

pc andrews replied: "If it's been that long, probably yeah, it's okay to take the acetaminophen."

kerrbear replied: "Borderline elevations of one or more liver tests may occur in up to 15% of patients taking NSAIDs including Naproxen. So for this reason I would avoid it if possible or at least don't do it on a regular basis as the acetemeniphen would be another drug that it metabolized by the liver and potentially harmful."

Dr Batta replied: "The effect of naproxyn should last about six hours. The question for you is why do need to take now acetaminophen, why do have this long term pain, what caused it. These are no candies that you should take them as you wish. There is pain syndrome known as analgesic- pain med- withdrawl syndrome, keep taking the pain meds and you will end up with this syndrome. So first need to find out why to take all the pain meds."

FUDGEY replied: "yes, but you need to ask your doctor this question, because what worked for one person may not work for another. i was once given this medication to take, three times a day. to my demise i found myself depending on this medication in a way i did not like, in a few words i was hooked on it. it took me a week to come down off that high. i have promised myself never again would i get hooked on prescription drugs. my best advise is talk this over with your doctor, and know what is good for your system intake. take care of yourself, but above all, stay drug free!"

Tammy W replied: "yes, you can take naproxen and acetaminophen together."

two weeks painful period during bc pills.? i lost my baby and had a d&c on january 18. i waited to start bc pills (loestrin fe) at about feb 16. im on the 3rd week of the pack but i started spotting some blood on feb 23rd. everyday the blood increases or theres more clotting. its almost two weeks since this period started and there are days where im getting unbearable cramping. it feels like im going through miscarriage again. the ob/gyn who performed the d&c the day i was in the ER checked up on me a couple days ago and looked inside me. apparently everything is "fine" with me and im just having a painful period. after my surgery he prescribed me naproxen 500mg (anaproxen) and this time he bumped it up darvocet-n 100/650. am i really having a long painful period? i really think this dr is full of it. and they told me to keep taking the bc pills during my pregnancy i was diagnosed with an abnormal pap. idk if that helps. i still have yet to get a colposcopy.

L replied: "I am so incredibly sorry about your miscarriage. I can't even comprehend the emotional pain you must be going through. It is common to have spotting and some clotting when you first take birth control pills, especially after your body has gone through such a terrible physical trauma. The cramping and excess blood could also be related to the stress you are having as a result of this incident. It is important to keep taking your birth control pills, as they will regulate your hormone levels. If this happens with your next few periods, I would consult your doctor again. In the meantime, try to relax and take some pain medication. Exercise also will help you to de-stress and your body will begin to feel better. Good luck and once again, I'm deeply sorry."

is Naproxen a felony or mistomener? my freind brought some naproxen to school to give my grandmother who had recently had a back surgery. while we were in class he passed the pills to me and we were caught for Possestion the cops did not know if it would be a felony or a mistomener this is a first time offense the naproxen was 500mg is this a charge that will afect me and what should i be looking at in terms of punishment

Dasans replied: "hahahaha what thats freaking Aleve dude, you can get it over the counter are you guys morons?"

nothingconstant replied: "Naproxen is Aleve. You are saying that he was in possession of pharmaceutical strength aleve?? I'm pretty sure it has something more to do with giving prescriptions to others that have not been prescribed them.. not a narcotics charge."

ibu guru replied: "Get a lawyer -- NOW! Naproxen sodium (brand name Aleve) is an over-the-counter pain reliever. If this is really what it was, there should be no charges. This is ridiculous. Get a lawyer!"

Teekno replied: "Probably a misdemeanor. Ignore the others who said it's not a crime. Aleve is over-the-counter Naproxen, with a maximum strength of 200mg. The pills you were giving were prescription-strength. It's an amazingly stupid thing to do, and if you're lucky, you might get off with some community service instead of getting a drug trafficking charge."

Lucas E replied: "If it's prescription-strength Naproxen, then you would be guilty of "possession of prescription medication without a prescription". From what looking I've done, it seems that that charge can go either way, but I'd be surprised if it was a felony in your case for a few reasons. (1) Naproxen is available in a lower strength over-the-counter. So, it's not like you were passing around something that isn't legally available to everyone. (2) Naproxen is not a narcotic. (3) It's a first time offense. Of course, what they want to charge you with is really up to the police/DA. Also, it's spelled "misdemeanor", for future reference."

Mutt replied: "500mg is prescription strength, and this would be illegal. Considering the nature of the "offense" I would think it would be a simple misdemeanor. If it was something stronger (like Oxycontin), he could be looking at a felony. How serious is a different story. I can't see any judge sentencing your friend to "hard time" for this. He probably will get a slap on the back of the hand and told not to do it again. He will probably get in more trouble with the school than he will with the law."
