how safe is Viagra and pregnancy? my husband wants to take a viagra and im 7 months pregnant if he gets off in me will it hurt the baby?

Cindy D replied: "Ask the pharmacist."

Lolly replied: "wow. No"

mirkamarlowe replied: "umm what goes in ur mouth gets to ur baby genius"

hoppykit replied: "Ummm. NO."

hamrrfan replied: "As long as you are physically comfortable there should be no problem. Check with your doctor if you are hesitant about sex. Viagra only helps to achieve and maintain an erection. There are side effects that the man should be aware of. None of the medication enters the woman's body. Orgasms are OK. The source has a few precautions. "While sex during pregnancy can be a lot of fun, there are certain warning signs to look out for when you are experiencing orgasms. Warning signs include: very painful contractions uterine cramps lasting longer than one hour unusual or heavy vaginal bleeding Though rare, these signs could indicate that you are experiencing preterm labor or miscarriage, and you should visit with your health care provider immediately.""

R.I.P Gimli replied: "if you want sex .. (which i wouldn't recommend when your pregnant but its still safe) You should Spoon.. Yup anal sex! just in case you're worried about your baby, i doubt his sperm could reach the baby any way.. the sperm has to be allowed into the uterus and there are no eggs left for them to fertilize any way plus your baby is protected in the sack thing and if its a girl the sperm wouldn't go in side her.. she doesn't even have ovaries yet!"

Why does McCain oppose funding teen pregnancy prevention issues but approves Viagra? Isn't that a bit hypocritical? Thoughts?

Ebony Queen replied: "He figures kids don't need to get their groove on anyway!"

Desikinns! replied: "lol that makes no sence"

JJ Mizzou replied: "How many teens do you know on Viagra?"

Obama Bin Biden replied: "Why does the liberal media support 16 yr old Jamie Lynn Spears and why did Nickolodean keep her KIDS show on?! I bet you were one of the ones yelling "LEAVE JAMIE LYNN ALONE!" You hypocrite liberals crack me up"

dr schmitty replied: "cognitive dissonance...besides, mccain's next wife will probably be a teenager"

Vince replied: "Because he feels that one should be responsible for his or her own actions, I would assume. I guess depending on your point of view, this is either good or bad. But, I hardly see how supporting funding for Viagra is hypocritical when compared to federal funding for teen pregnancies. Viagra helps men with ED...which is typically an older male demographic. Hardly do teen males need Viagra. So...no, it is not hypocritical. Maybe slightly backwards...but certainly not hypocritical."

amalfian replied: "There's a difference, society does not want teens getting it on. But adults, who cares?"

StereotypeMeBecauseYouKnow replied: "The government needs to stop paying for everything. The Liberals in this country will never stop whining until everyone pays 90% of their income in taxes and sits around waiting for Big Brother to take care of our yards."

ken replied: "A seventeen year old boy needs viagra? Come on what is your point?"

ryan s replied: "well hes a religious man but hes also and married man with whos old as hell and prolly has a erectile dis function"

alice america replied: ""Palin herself said she opposes funding sexual-education programs in Alaska. "The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," she wrote in a 2006 questionnaire distributed among gubernatorial candidates." - from your link This speaks for itself."

Can a minor buy condoms, birth control,a pregnancy test and viagra? And how much is viagra? curious...

timestamps replied: "no they can not to all questions a "minor" can't buy anything listed"

kovs20 replied: "Everything but the viagra, there are no laws against the others, but viagra is a prescription so no one can buy it except those prescribed it."

micky3966 replied: "Yes, yes, yes, and no. Viagra is a prescription drug and if you are a minor you don't need it anyway!"

Princess replied: "I'm not sure how old you are. Yes, you can buy condoms and a pregnancy test. The birth control is by prescription only, you can go to a Planned Parenthood or the Health Department for low-cost or free services. Viagra, I doubt you need it. Besides that you need a prescription. Ok, I'm going to give you some motherly advice for a minute. Please really think having sex through, even if you have already, you don't have to do it again. But please if you are going to be sexually active, protect yourself."

jacktownfinest2003 replied: "Yes they can. They wouldn't be able to buy viagra!"

the_bald_one_mpls replied: "Minors can purchase condoms and pregnancy tests with no problems. They can also purchase over-the-counter birth control. A pharmasist may be able to deny minors prescription birth control (Ortho-Tri, Morning After, etc.) depending on the laws of where they practice. Viagra is prescription only. It's possible, but VERY rare, that a minor could have it prescribed to them."

olemissloper replied: "anyone can buy condoms. BC cannot be given to a minor without a parents consent. yes you can buy a pregnancy test, and viagra must be prescribed by a doctor. the cost varies, depending on the insurance you have."

Viagra and Pregnancy? I read somewhere that a woman took viagra pills each time before sex and ended up pregnant, after being told that she could not have kids naturaly! She swears that it was the viagra that made her pregnant the first time and has since went on to have another child the same way. Has anybody ever read about this? and do you believe that it was the viagra that helped her get pregnant, or do you just think that this was a coincidence? Heres a link to read aswell - what do you think? Its a news statement about viagra reversing infertility.

mandy replied: "i think it is coincidence"

alexis73102 replied: "Women are not supposed to take Viagra, there is nothing in it that effects women, especially their reprodcutive organs. I think its coinsidence....big time."

magy replied: "I think it's probably BS- viagra is a medication for MEN, not women, and i would think it were dangerous to take it for women. Many women conceive after being told there's no hope- i think it's coincidental."

How do you ladies feel about McCain supporting viagra & not birth control? Wouldn't it make sense to try & prevent unwanted pregnancies since it costs upwards of $10,000 dollars to the insurance companies? Here's the evidence, no name calling please.

cvq3842 replied: "Erectile disfunction is an illness. Having a healthy baby is not. A malpractice suit against a doctor who made a man impotent could well succeed. But courts have never allowed damages if a doctor's misdeeds (in performing a sterilization, for example) caused the birth of a healthy baby. I'm not saying the policy is right, but merely pointing out that they are two different things. I also have no evidence that this is McCain's policy."

VoiceOfReason replied: "What...? Reference please... That is an unclear question... It is an illness... It needs to be regulated (ED that is) to conduct everyday normal activities... Birth control is to fend off what naturally happens when a man and a woman do the deed... Pregnancy is the normal course... Not an illness... In fact Viagra promotes procreation while birth control deters it... Procreation is the normal way of life for most folk... Edit: I'm sorry... did I hurt your feelings for calling you a bozo...? (I call them like I see them) Look... You provided a link that supports half of your statement... How about a source that shows that McCain voted for making viagra more accessible to men...? The government ought not socialize birth control... Or health insurance for that matter... Socialism sucks... I like running water don't you...?"

nvedukatr replied: "When did McCain write that policy you are referring to? I saw the same commercial you did, and it is effective, but McCain didn't set that policy in motion. Why don't you blame him for the things he truly is responsible for? Or can't you find any of those things?"

piggy_smallz replied: "Some Women voting for McCain havent taken the time to study his policies towards the Female gender. The Educated American Female isnt casting a vote for McCain, his Female support is coming from the "bitter, lower income, high school educated" segment of the population. His Female Base. McCain avoids Viagra question CNN) – John McCain is known for his frequent chats with reporters and his willingness to discuss nearly any issue. But at least one is off-limits, the Republican presidential nominee suggested Wednesday: Viagra. "I certainly do not want to discuss that issue," the Arizona senator said aboard his "Straight Talk Express" bus in Ohio when asked about his views on health insurance covering the medication. But the off-message topic was raised from a member of McCain’s own team: national co-chairwoman Carly Fiorina, who had said earlier women often express frustration over the fact many health insurance plans cover Viagra but not birth control medication. "Let me give you a real, live example, which I've been hearing a lot about from women. There are many health insurance plans that will cover Viagra but won't cover birth control medication. Those women would like a choice," she said Monday. A McCain spokesman later said the Arizona senator supported competition in the healthcare industry, presumably allowing women to nix policies that cover Viagra but not their specific needs. Election Center: Where McCain stands on healthcare McCain has voted against Senate measures that sought to require insurance companies to cover birth control medication. The exchange also followed a town-hall event during which McCain touched upon the abortion issue, a matter that traditionally hasn’t animated him on the stump. After praising President Bush’s efforts to expand faith-based programs, McCain pivoted: “I also think that we should do everything that we can, and one of those in my view is respect for human life both born and the unborn.” The comments led to a standing ovation — his first at that event."

Vince replied: "It's untrue...the reporter tried to grill McCain and he had no idea what she was talking about, and for good reason. What the reporter stated was false. 86% of insurance companies cover birth control. It's their choice to do so if they wish."

THERESA replied: "I don't think he meant what is being taken from a question asked of him. I grant you that his response was lame. I could think of at least five ways he could have answered but he choose not to put his foot in his mouth. In my opinion viagra is a recreational drug now being used by men not needing it. It should only be prescribed for ED and for no other reason and if it is the person wanting it should pay for it."

turtlesoup for BARR '08! replied: "I think it's unfortunate that insurance companies are so irresponsible and sexist that the government would need to step in at all..."

T-bone replied: "how do you feel about obama supporting late term abortions? Obama's record in Illinois represents that of a pragmatic progressive, who pushed for moderate reforms and opposed right-wing legislation. In the IL legislature, voting "present" is the equivalent of voting "no" because a majority of "yes" votes are required for passage. Many IL legislators use the "present" vote as an evasion on an unpopular choice, so that they can avoid being targeted for voting "no." During the 2004 Democratic primary, an opponent mocked Obama's "present" vote on abortion bills with flyers portraying a rubber duck and the words, "He ducked!". In 1997, Obama voted against SB 230, which would have turned doctors into felons by banning so-called partial-birth abortion, & against a 2000 bill banning state funding. Although these bills included an exception to save the life of the mother, they didn't include anything about abortions necessary to protect the health of the mother. The legislation defined a fetus as a person, & could have criminalized virtually all abortion."

Froggy replied: "I'm 46 years old, married with kids, and have a vasectomy. Viagra is sold for guys like ME, not teens. Get a grip."

Jessica replied: "Its enough to make me never want to vote for him. Considering I'm a woman I'm more concerend about women's issues than an old man's erection."

Bullmastiff Mommy replied: "I thought that Planned Parenthood gave away abortions and BC for free????? What are you libs so upset about??? You can still get yout freebies."

montcalm replied: "to those who argue that viagra is for a "medical condition" while birth control is for a "choice," many women get prescribed birth control for hormonal issues, problems with irregular menstrual cycles, or for dermatological conditions. and for those who think that viagra is exclusively for a "medical condition" i'm sure that you'd agree with me that it's taken much more frequently by people who either do not need it or who are experiencing the normal side effects of aging than by people who are young, otherwise healthy, and have ED. either way, even if everyone took both of these medications purely because it was their choice, it should still be covered by insurance providers as they are both FDA approved drugs that cannot be sold over the counter and require a prescription. and for those who feel that women should have no control over when to have children (ahem voiceofreason) i hope that you and your long term female partner enjoy abstinence or ten children. i'm glad to know that you're out there defending my independence from being a baby factory from the age of 20 to menopause."

Some_Guy_in_Ithaca_NY replied: "Please don't say McCain and Viagra in the same sentence.... Both Viagra and Birth Control are completely overpriced in the US. When I was in the Dominican Republic, you could buy Viagra in any bar or pharmacy for about $2/pill and birth control was available in once a month pills and patches without prescriptions. Viagra is certainly used for ED, but prob more than 80% of its use in the US is for functional men who just want to last longer in bed. But worse is Bush wanting to deny condom distribution in countries with high AIDS rates because it would encourage immoral behavior. Better that people die I guess and children are born orphans with HIV."

ezmee1859 replied: "It doesn't matter that John McCain does not support birth control pills. That is up to the Insurance company. And all Medical Insurances that I have had, cover birth control pills, patches, shots, etc. Even Medicaid covers the pill. So I could care less if John McCain does not support the pill, the Insurance Company's do, and it will always be covered."

Older husband on Viagra: can we still get pregnant? My husband is 52 and I am 24. We have been together for three years and would very much like to start a family. The other day I discovered a bottle of Viagra in his truck and he never told me that he was taking it or was even considering it. I think perhaps he was/is embarrassed to share that with me since I am so much younger than him. In any event, I am concerned because we have been trying to get pregnant for 3 months now with no success. Since I do not know how long he has been on Viagra, could it be the Viagra that is impairing our ability to conceive? I had an ectopic pregnancy six months ago, so I know that I am fertile. Thank you.

Erika G replied: "Viagra won't impair his ability to impregnate you, but, as men age, they have fewer healthy sperm, and so, it may be harder to get pregnant."

viagra being covered by health care? how can mccain support viagra being covered by health care and not birth control? many girls have to start going on the pill for various health reasons, not just to prevent pregnancy, so how does this make any sense?

volleyballchick replied: "Why is it covered? Because insurance companies are run by old white men in need of such meds! Birth control is not something a man needs, so they don't care about that - but getting that h*rd on? That is another story altogether."

NINTH M replied: "Mccain supports it because viagra is mainly used by old men to have sex with their wives and birth control is mainly used by younger women to sleep around."

maandpas2000 replied: "Ins. Co. will always side with the mans point of view, because their rules and laws that govern them were written by men, for men. They are not going to side with women. A man's weenie getting ..... well you know, is more important than real health issues, pertaining to life and death, and they say NO to life saving procedures, but will give men weenie medicine."

rod replied: "The medical answer is...erectile dysfunction is a failure of a working system, while birth control is the prevention of a system from working. So Viagra treats a medical problem while birth control causes a working reproductive system to stop working. I know, it's crap...but that's the actual rationale behind it."

Viagra vs. abortion? Health insurance? This question was asked to poor old McCain during election! So, do you think that Viagra being covered and not abortion is sexist? Why? Personally, I think ED is a recognized disorder and Viagra is a therapeutic drug. Pregnancy prevention is available in form of OCP and in view of controversy regarding abortion issue, HMOs would be hesitant to cover abortion. That's the logic of it as I understand.

Sheba Jack replied: "Not all insurance companies cover ED drugs such as Viagra. I worked with a woman and her husband took Viagra for ED. The insurance company did not cover it. It must depend on the insurance company. This was Premera by the way."

dark eyes replied: "Viagra is the cure for a disorder that face a lot of men. Abortion is a choice women make, when they didn't make the right choice to begin with."

Allornothing AKA The Real Mike T replied: "Insurance is a form of socialism. Insurance customers don't pay for medical care. I'm tired of insurances they can charge however much they want and the do NOT have to show you statistics. That in itself is abuse of power and authority."

It's That Guy replied: "Consider also that most HMOs don't cover birth control. You have to pay for the pills or whatever yourself. Feminists have said that if -men- got pregnant, abortion would be totally legal. I think they have a good point. We tend to think of unwanted pregnancy as a woman's problem. We blame single mothers and teenagers who get unintentionally pregnant for being irresponsible (and perhaps they are), but we don't blame the men nearly as much. I even read somewhere that the great majority of pregnant teenagers get pregnant by older guys, guys in their 20s. who you would expect to be more responsible, at least to know how pregnancy happens."

antagonist replied: "No I beleive he was asked about Viagra vs prescription hormones / contraceptives. Aren't those a little closer aligned?"

Colonel Reb replied: "I think it's strange. Neither should be covered in my opinion. That being said, erectile disfunction is a condition you have no control over. Abortion is a choice. So I can sort of see the logic. I still don't get why Viagra is covered by insurance though."

Know It All replied: "I'd say abortion should be covered, while Viagra should be considered on a case-by-case basis."

Imagine Whirled Peas replied: "Viagra and abortion do not treat the same type of condition. Without getting into whether I am in favor of abortion or not, I think it should at least be covered if it is for a health reason, such as the mother's health being endangered. I can't think of a single instance where a man not taking Viagra would endanger his health. Yes, ED is a recognized disorder, but it is not a health issue, it is a quality of life issue. I've got no problem with birth control pills being covered, after all, it at least stems the tide of unwanted pregnancies. If there were a male contraceptive, I would be in favor of that being covered too in the interest of equality. You can't really compare abortion to anything since men do not get pregnant. Not the normal ones, anyway (before someone throws the "pregnant man" story at me)."

TiredOfFemaleTechsOnMaleExams replied: "this is turning into a male/female debate but it isnt Abortion should be covered ONLY if there is life threatening medical issue. or in the case of PROSECUTABLE report of rape. other than that is pure choice. ED drugs should be covered AFTER all testing is done to find out why it is happening is it physical or mental. if it is physical if there is a surgical solution that should be addressed. if it is physical without a surgical "cure" then viagra and the like should be covered in limitation via 10 doses monthly (no male would need to have sex every single day of every single month all year long) if it is mental they should be sent to a SEX therapist not a mental health specialist (insurances keep generalizing to many conditions) The reason on ED is that to many doctors are NOT looking for the reason of ED they just prescribe viagra and ignore the needed testing. from what ive read is if u can get noctural erections it is most likely a mental issue and not physical. but you still need the testing not just straight to the prescriptions Imagine Whirled Peas --- It may not directly endanger his life but can result in depression and stress which would cost the insurance more money as in mental health appointments and also think of the stress we all know how stress screws with the body if your male or female stress can hurt you bad. FOR my health insurance company they deny men but provide for females. lets over generalize for a moment Gender identifying body parts Females - breasts - in the case of full removal the insurance company will pay for recostructive surgery even though its generally cosmetic it is covered for the reason of a females psychological health ( i agree it should be done if she wants it and i dont think it should be classified that its a psychological issue) male -testicles- removal of a testicle is covered however a fake testicle is not covered (since it is not prominate as a female breast is ) even though it would be put in at the time the origional is taken out. there is no mention of this being covered or not covered due to psychological issues to me my personal insurance company seems (in my opinion) to be making females out to be overly prone to psychological issues dealing with a physical absence)"

Treffy replied: "It is in no way sexist. Erectile dysfunction is a disorder. It means that something is not working right. Viagra is a medical solution to a physical disorder. It is a health matter and not just about quality of life. Erectile dysfunction causes much distress. To the level of effecting health even. Unwanted pregnancy is not a disorder or an illness."

originata replied: "I agree with your assessment. Often times ED is a side effect of greater health problems as well. Last I checked, pregnancy wasn't a disease or disorder."

RoVale replied: "I don't think Viagra should be covered. Impotence in men is usually a symptom of heart disease. Instead of encouraging men to take this drug, they should be told to see their doctors and find out what's really wrong with them before they take this pill and die from a heart attack."

broken angel replied: "Neither should be paid for by health insurance."

Divine Oubliette replied: "That may be true about Viagra but I draw the line at sexual predators being able to get it through Medicare. Taking a Viagra is a CHOICE, not being pregnant is also a CHOICE. It has been deemed a fundamental RIGHT in this country! Don't like it, don't get one. If you really don't like it, I will pay for a plane ticket to get you out of my country. ~Pro-Choice Momma; Have had an abortion and I have a 7 month old daughter . I believe in protecting my daughter's choice."

Yourface replied: "Yeah, I agree with you. Pregnancy isn't a medical disorder, it's a choice as is abortion. Unless the mother's life or the baby's life is in danger, abortion is a personal choice, having an erection disorder isn't."

rocket from the office replied: "what I think is ridiculous is that hmos don't want to cover abortions and then women who can't afford children end up having to rely on WELFARE to pay for their kids..... Also - I work as a benefit clerk for a company and I maintenance blue cross - so I know how this works. You can be raped --- suffer emo/phy abuse and be given the SAME medical benefits as someone who commits a crime and needs rehab for choosing to become addicted to an illegal drug. Trust me, I have seen it happen."

FCB CFC replied: "I don't think it's sexist. LIfe isn't meant to be fair. 77"

Untamed Rose replied: "....o.0 but mccain wasnt asked about abortion vs viagra...he was asked about Birth Control vs viagra. Big difference. See... Really...check your facts."

Samuel Cameron replied: "You put it well. This argument also crops up in the context of whether insurance companies should cover contraceptives for women. Sometimes people seem to lose sight of the nature of insurance and private markets. Insurance is coverage against the risk of a future contingency for a price, based on the likelihood of such a contingency occurring and the potential cost. In the case of health coverage, the contingency we insure against is a health related disorder cropping up in the future. Erectile dysfunction is considered an insurable disorder akin to diabetes, liver disease or whatever. But men may have to pay higher premiums to get a plan that covers such disorders, particularly if they are very common. The use of contraceptives is not a disorder or other health contingency. It is a virtual certainty for most adults. No sane insurer will insure against a certainty. That makes no sense if you ever wish to make a profit. Abortion is a little trickier. It is not a certainty but is it really the cure for a disorder? Pregnancy being the disorder and abortion being the cure? Hmmm. Plus, one could certainly argue it is an elective procedure (my body, my choice). But perhaps it could be insurable for an additional premium? I say let the private markets decide."

wendy g replied: "Actually, many insurance companies won't cover birth control, either, as it is not treatment for a condition. It's also important to note that more than half of those that take Viagra do NOT have a medical condition, or erectile dysfunction, they take it "recreationally" and are prescribed it for that reason. There is no reason not to cover abortion. It's a medical condition, but I agree with someone else that said it should be covered if there are complications that make it necessary. If we are going to use the excuse that pregnancy prevention is readily available....well, there are many medical conditions that are preventable. The ONLY reason the insurance companies don't want to cover it is the same reason that they will turn down almost every single claim, initially.... because they are greedy."

Blue-Eyed Christian replied: "I don't think it's sexist. Like you said, ED is an actual disorder. Pregnancy is not. Covering the termination of a pregnancy that is going to kill the mother is one thing; it's medically necessary. But covering one that is done just because the woman doesn't want it? No."

slay247 replied: "It's a moot point. Private insurance companies (the only ones that have a right to exist) can cover whatever they want and what they cover and don't cover is between them and their customers to sort out in their insurance contracts. If insurance companies want to offer insurance covering abortion and contraceptives, let them, such an insurance plan would command higher premiums than one that doesn't cover those things but it is up to the individual to decide if they wish to purchase the extra coverage."

Does viagra or levitra make sperm stronger? Does taking these pills make likelihood of pregnancy greater?

Colleen O replied: "No, they are only for erectile dysfunction not a sperm "booster"."

cutiekid2009 replied: "no they don't"

Gracie replied: "no, they make you erect. not increase your sperm count"

Jayme c replied: "Hi Viagra andlevitra are meds for ED. The only time they are used in infertility is ... surprise!!! for WOMEN!!! Viagra has shown to help support the production of pregesterone in women... making the lining of the uterus thicker making it a better environment for the egg to implant. these meds will not increase fertility. clomid is a female infertility drug... this can also be use to increase sperm count"

XrrX replied: "Viagra (sildenafil) cialis (tadalafil) levitra (vardenafil) is used to treat erectile dysfunction. In a simple word if you can make an erection then they may help"
