Valtrex For Recurring Herpes in Questions
On 1000 mg. Valtrex for 1 yr. with no recurring herpes, previous life partner never got them, what about new 1 what to tell new lover...?

Queen Of Unique replied: "You have to tell the new lover. If she/he gets it and you guys break up and you never tell her or she doesn't show sypmtoms she could pass it on. Be responsible she'll trust you alot more for this. Imagine if someone had HIV and they didn't give it to their last partner and they decided not to tell you. It should be her choice on if she wants to risk it. Hope you chose to the responsible and moral thing."

Steve M replied: "So your previous life partner....has been replaced by a new life partner... However you define your lovers, you are obligated to let them know what's goin on...and what risk they may be in for.."

Lindsey replied: "u should tell them u have herpes preferably before u have sex."

Wulfie replied: "Teresa, Don't tell them. Hey, it is a risk we all have to accept in life. Why tell somebody that you have a disease? If they really love you, they would accept you either way."

Is my recurring fever due to herpes? Stopped the Valtrex about a month ago. Never had any outbreaks that i knew of. NOW i keep feeling horrible...i am experiencing chills and all-over malaise for the third time in about 2 weeks. Not much of a fever, just these chills and then feeling hot, with the change from cold to hot every 20-30 seconds. Herpes? Something else? Should i be rushing to the ER for tests? Thanks!

hecla 1 replied: "No need to rush to the ER....make an appointment with your regular Dr. to find out what may be going on. This is not an emergency and so the ER would probably only give you antibiotics and tell you to follow up with your regular Dr, maybe do a blood test to check your white blood cell count."

My doctor is trying to prescribe Valtrex for my recurring Canker Sores, is this right? Ive read on numerous sites that Canker Sores ARENT part of the herpes virus, therefore Valtrex will really do nothing for me. I really don't want to go on another medication for no reason. So, is my doctor correct or wrong in prescribing me Valtrex? I want to trust their judgement, but it just sounds like everything else says its wrong... Thanks! Thanks! *Also, in response to one of the answers I received. They are Canker Sores, NOT cold sores. Ive read so many sites on them, it makes me go cross-eyed :P

wlcme2thedllhouse replied: "i guess they know what there doing but yea it deosnt sound right i would go to like a care now clinic and get a second opinion!"

paigespirate replied: "Contact a pharmacist, they are the experts. then go to the company itself, that make valtrex. there is a possibility that misinformation is being passed between you and your doctor or I should say the information about exactly what you have going on is not being given to you in an understandable manner. But for info about meds and a condition, get a second opinion, go to a pharmacist, contact the manufacturer good luck"

mrskerlin replied: "That's strange but I was just discussing this last night with a nurse friend who has home bound patients and she said that one of her patients was taking Valtrex for canker sores. I have heard that canker sore are just a different form of herpes... I would just go to a different doctor and get a second opinion, if are really unsure and don't trust the doctor you are going to..."

Btrfly9IRL replied: "cold sores are herpes and would be found OUTSIDE the mouth - so valtrex would be right. canker sores are ulcers found INSIDE the mouth. as far as i know there is no prescription for this. do you know which one you have? "

Sean O replied: "They don’t know what causes canker sores so don’t let any one tell you other wise. Question is how do you treat the sore and the pain? Do you get canker sores often? I do and I recommend this treatment! Debacterol MM is an inexpensive prescription. Where has this treatment been all my life? The application of the treatment is quite painfully, but after 15-20 seconds of pain, the entire sore immediately feels great and the sore goes away that day...gone! It is applied in a glass like Q-tip applicator and you snap it and the medication flows to the tip of the applicator. You hold the Q-tip to the canker sore for 3-5 seconds. It hurts like @#%*, but the pain goes away immediately. The treatment reduces days of pain for a 3 second treatment. That is it…canker sore is gone for good! Get it from your doctor or dentist and have a couple of spares for future flare-ups. They come in a little 1” x 4” plastic portable package. I highly recommend this treatment! Pain free at last!!"
